The Warped Tour 2017 is the 23rd edition of the festival tour , which leads through the United States . It includes 41 concerts that take place between June 16 and August 6, 2017.
Announcement and tour schedule
On December 13, 2016, the participating cities and the framework dates were officially made public. Three days after the tour dates were announced, another stop was added to the festival route on August 1, 2017 in Las Cruces , New Mexico . Even before the Warped Tour took place , The Ghost Inside , who were involved in a devastating traffic accident in November 2015, were announced as the first group for the festival tour .
Jonathan Vigil, singer of the band, canceled The Ghost Inside's participation in the Warped Tour in mid-February 2017, as they were not yet ready to attend concerts. A few days later, rumors were spread about various potential participants in the Warped Tour, which were later partially confirmed. Four days before the announcement of the participating musicians, the list of participants for the Warped Tour 2017 was leaked. A message on Rockfeed.net states that this has been the case every year since 2011, to make the participants public before the actual announcement.
Changes
On March 23, 2017, the day on which the participants of the Warped Tour were announced, the organizer announced that it would not be offering free tickets to parents of underage festival-goers in 2017. The program was first introduced in 2015 and continued in 2016. The organizer justified this step with the fact that the festival was returning to its roots and was also able to attract well-known artists. Due to the outrage on the part of long-time festival visitors, it was announced five days later that free tickets would also be given to a parent in 2017. However, this only applies to visitors under the age of 16.
There were also plans to expand the festival tour internationally. Accordingly, two locations were named with Mexico City and Japan . In total, the Warped Tour will take place in fifteen states around the world. In Japan, the music festival Punkspring is to be renamed Warpedspring . The event in Mexico has now been confirmed for May 27, 2017.
A Warped Rewind at Sea cruise for up to 2,300 passengers was also announced in March . This should start in New Orleans and lead to Cozumel in Mexico.

Controversy
On June 25, 2017, Leonard Graves Phillips, singer of the punk band The Dickies , caused a scandal when they performed in Denver , Colorado . After he noticed a sign with a feminist message from the audience, he tied the audience in a song break. He insulted the person in a sexist way and asked the audience to shout "blow me one". Due to massive protests, the group was excluded from the further festival tour. The controversy created international waves, so that the musicians of the bands Terrorgruppe and Egotronic started a discussion about punk culture. Meanwhile, Jesse Hughes of the Eagles of Death Metal and Noodles of The Offspring Grave Phillips jumped aside, arguing that in rock and roll you should have the right to express your opinion. It later became known that the visitor was a crew member of the feminist punk band War on Women , who had been contacted by Lyman after he had been heavily criticized for the involvement of Front Porch Step in the event two years earlier .
