Joliette is a city in the Canadian county of Joliette of the same name and is also its capital. The city on the west bank of the St. Lawrence River counted a total of 19,044 inhabitants in 2006 and has an area of 22.81 km².
history
Joliette was founded in 1823 by Barthélemy Joliette.

Joliette is located between Québec , the maritime provinces and the Joliette (regional county council) . The Trans-Canada Highway runs from Québec to Joliette. Autoroute 40 , which continues to the north, leads to Trois-Rivières . Joliette is connected to the VIA Rail Canada rail network.
Attractions
- The Catholic Church of Saint-Charles-Borromée in the town center was built between 1904 and 1906. It is the cathedral of the Joliette diocese .
- The Musée d'art de Joliette "MAJ" has a collection of more than 9000 works of art.
