Echo Smith is an American indie pop - band . It was founded in February 2009 in Toluca Lake , USA and consists of the siblings Graham, Sydney, Noah and Jamie Sierota. Echosmith was signed to Warner Bros. Records in May 2012 . The band is best known in their home country for the single Cool Kids . This rose to number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Her first single, Tonight We're Making History , was released on June 5, 2012 and was used in an NBC promotion for the 2012 Summer Olympics . In June 2013 the new single and the official music video Come Together were presented. The debut album Talking Dreams hit stores on October 8, 2013.
Origin and musical influences
The siblings grew up in a musical household and therefore came into contact with various different musical instruments in their early childhood. The band is said to have been influenced by artists such as Coldplay , Echo & the Bunnymen , The Smiths , U2 , Joy Division and Fleetwood Mac . The youngest member, Graham (born February 5, 1999 ), plays drums . The only female member, Sydney (born April 21, 1997 ), is the lead singer and plays the tambourine and keyboard every now and then . Noah (born January 1, 1996 ) plays bass and the eldest brother, Jamie (born April 9, 1993 ), the lead guitar . The two older brothers also work as background singers.
Echosmith has indie rock and 80's dance rock influences . Singer Sydney Sierota has also been compared to Ellie Goulding in reviews .
Career
Echosmith released a number of cover songs such as I Will Wait by Mumford & Sons , Set Fire to the Rain by Adele and Princess of China by Coldplay and Rihanna .
The band's management consists of Jeffery David and The Knoller Group. In April 2013, Echosmith was added to the Alternative Press list of 100 bands you should know ("100 Bands You Need To Know") . On May 31, 2013, the band released their latest song Come Together on their YouTube channel. The music video was directed by Justin Coloma . It was shot in Los Angeles.
Her first single, Cool Kids , was released on June 4, 2013. The song debuted at number 87 on the Billboard Hot 100 . In the next week the single fell out again. The song also rose to number 94 in the US Airplay Top 100 and peaked at number 50 in the following weeks. The single remained in these charts for four weeks.
On June 7, 2013, the band performed at a concert at Warner Bros. Records in Burbank . It was streamed on Youtube at the same time. Echosmith's songs Come Together , Let's Love and March Into The Sun aired on ESPN in June . Echosmith also participated on the entire Vans Warped Tour in 2013. They supported the concerts of Owl City , Twenty One Pilots and Neon Trees . On Owl City's 2013 Midsummer Station Tour, they were the opening act in the United States and Canada .
The debut album Talking Dreams hit stores on October 8, 2013. Echosmith released their version of the famous Christmas carol I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day on December 3, 2013 . It was available as a free download on their website during December. The band performed the song Cool Kids on December 31, 2013 during the TeenNick show TeenNick Top 10: New Year's Eve Countdown , hosted by Nick Cannon . Echosmith was added to the list of " MTV 's 2014 Artists To Watch". The song Surround You is part of the soundtrack of the film Endless Love .
Echosmith played on the Vans Warped Tour in 2014. It was the second year in a row. For the television audience, they played their song Cool Kids on Conan O'Brien's programs Conan and Teen Wolf's aftershow ( Wolf Watch ) . On June 10, Echosmith released an acoustic EP called Acoustic Dreams , which includes acoustic versions of the four songs from Talking Dreams , as well as a new song called Terminal .
Echosmith was the MTV Push Artist of the Month in November 2014. This was followed by a tour with The Colourist as support in February 2015 in the USA and a European tour with Alvarez Kings . In 2015 the singer Sydney worked with the internationally successful German DJ Zedd for the song Illusion on the album True Colors . In August it was announced that guitarist Jamie was taking time off after the birth of his son and was represented by a support guitarist at concerts. The band had a guest appearance on The Muppets ( single All The Way , S1: E10), which aired on December 8, 2015. There were occasional messages on Twitter and Instagram that the band u. a. working on a new album with Gerard Way. In 2016, singer Sydney announced a collaboration with Hollister . On November 14, 2016, the band announced via Twitter, Facebook and the newsletter that Jamie could no longer be part of the band and would now take care of his family and the remaining siblings would continue as a trio.
Their second album, Lonely Generation , was released on January 10, 2020 .
