Set Fire to the Rain is a pop song by the British singer Adele . The piece was released on July 4, 2011 as the second single from their second studio album 21 , but was already available as a download from March 25. The single sold well but fell short of the success of Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You . In the US, the single became Adele's third number one hit from album 21 after Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You .
Set Fire to the Rain was produced by Fraser T. Smith and written by Adele and Fraser T. Smith. In this song, Adele's vocal range extends from Bb3 to D5. The song describes the negative elements of a relationship and the impossibility of separation.
MusicOMH's John Murphy called the song a "power ballad". The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung rated the song as a pop song covered in sinfully lush strings. The song is the intro music for the German real-life documentary examines Julia Leischik: Please log in Sat.1 . In 2012 the Belarusian post-hardcore / metalcore band Dead Silence Hides My Cries recorded a cover version of the song.
