Fit for a King is a Christian metalcore / post-hardcore band from Tyler, USA, founded in 2007 .

history

Beginnings and debut album

Fit for a King was founded in September 2007 in the Texas city of Tyler. With Fit for a King (2008) and Awaken the Vesper (2009) two EPs were released , each of which was financed out of pocket. The musicians also financed their debut album, Descendants , which was released in September 2011. It was recorded by Cameron Mizell and features Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire as a guest vocalist. He can be heard in the piece The Architect . An album release tour followed, which featured My Ticket Home and From Atlantis .

The group initially organized concerts and tours themselves. The group was temporarily under contract with The Artery Foundation , which acted as a booking agency for the band. In January 2012 Fit for a King played selected concerts with Onward to Olympas and Auburn on the Heavy New Year Tour in the United States . A concert tour with In Dying Arms and For All I Am followed that same month . The Western Warriors tour with Affiance followed in April . In May, Fit for a King played with Us, From Outside on the 6-day The American Nightmare Tour .

Solid State Records

Due to the steadily growing success of the band, the Christian metal label Solid State Records became aware of the musicians and finally signed the group in July 2012. Their debut album via Solid State Records, Creation / Destruction , was recorded by producer Andreas Magnussen (he has worked with The Black Dahlia Murder , Haste the Day and Oh, Sleeper ). The work on the album in the studio took four weeks. It was released in March 2013 and sold so well that the group entered the official US charts for the first time . The album debuted at number 175. With 3100 records sold within the first week, Creation / Destruction is the band's best-selling debut album on Solid State Records.

In January and February 2013, the band embarked on a co-headlining tour with The Overseer that ran through Oregon , Idaho , Washington , Texas , California , Colorado , Missouri, and Indiana . In March 2013, the group toured with Oh, Sleeper through Texas, Mississippi , Arizona , Louisiana and Missouri.

In September 2013 the band toured Australia for the first time. As support were The Plot in You , For the Fallen Dreams and Storm the Sky confirmed. Fit for a King played as support (together with The Plot in You and Upon a Burning Body ) on the About That Life Tour of the band Attila in August . In December 2013 Fit For A King performed for the first time in Germany. They played at the Christian metal / rock festival Christmas Rock Night in Ennepetal.

In September 2018 guitarist Lynge left the band for personal reasons, but did not rule out future joint activities. Trey Celaya from the Texas metalcore band Invent, Animate and Daniel Gailey from the Californian metalcore band Phinehas have since taken the vacant position of guitarist at live concerts.
