Storm the Sky was a post-hardcore band from Melbourne , Victoria , Australia formed in 2010 .

history

Storm the Sky was founded in Melbourne in 2010 and today consists of the two singers Daniel Breen and Will Jarratt, the bassist Kristian Evangelistis, the drummer Alex Trail and the guitarists Andy Szetho and Billy Green.

In 2012 a mini-CD named after the band was released. The EP Vigilance followed a year later . Between September 11 and 22, 2013 the band played in the opening act for Fit for a King on their Australian tour . In November 2014 the group was signed by UNFD and the debut album was announced for the beginning of 2015. As a musical guest, Matty Mullins from Memphis May Fire can be heard on the album, which is called Permanence , in the piece Portraits . Permanence made it to number 45 in the Australian album charts .

In January and February 2015, Storm the Sky supported the US post-hardcore band Chiodos on their concert tour through Australia. In March the band played another Australian concert tour with In Hearts Wake as part of the Skydancer Tour , before the first headlining tour through their home country followed in August of the same year.

On July 8, 2016, Sin Will Find You, the band's second studio album, was announced for release on August 5, 2016. In the chart week of August 21, 2016, the album debuted at number 30 in the Australian charts.

Between August 16 and 23, 2016 Storm the Sky played together with Beartooth and Silverstein as part of the Misadventures Tour in the opening act of Pierce the Veil on their Australian tour section.

In November 2018, the band announced that they would break up after a final tour. The reason was that the big breakthrough could not be achieved and the band only had predominantly regional success.

style

Storm the Sky plays an atmospheric way of playing metalcore , with the guitar playing coming across as quite progressive. The music on the second long player was expanded to include death rock and pop influences. The atmospheric sound from the debut album has a deeper effect. The dark-tinged synthesizers give the music U2- like hooks, while the dynamics of the songs in phases the aggressiveness of letlive . can accept.

Singer William Jarrett lyrically takes up aspects of his personal environment. In his texts, for example, he sings about the struggle against the most varied of difficulties in life, grave betrayal and the fact that life can be in the 21st century. The listener learns a lot from the darkest corners of the musician's experience.
