history
Beartooth was founded in 2012 by Caleb Shomo, formerly a member of the band Attack Attack! . Beartooth should initially be called Noise. Since this name was already taken, the name Beartooth was chosen. Shomo was supported by Taylor Lumley ( lead guitar ), Kamron Bradbury ( rhythm guitar ), Oshie Bichar ( electric bass , backing vocals ) and Brandon Mullins ( drums ).
On July 26, 2013, the group released their debut EP Sick on Red Bull Records , which could be downloaded from the band's official website.
The band was booked for the full Warped Tour 2014. In April 2014 the group played with Issues in the opening act for Of Mice & Men on their mini European tour. On June 10, 2014, the debut album Disgusting was officially released. The album was released in North America via Red Bull Records, with UNFD distributing it in Australia . The group spent the summer on the Hard Rock Kevin Says stage with groups like Get Scared , Neck Deep , Scare Don't Fear , Icon for Hire and Survive This! as part of the Warped Tour. The first European tour followed as headliner in September . It was also announced that the group would join This Wild Life as opening act for Pierce the Veil and Sleeping with Sirens on their world tour of the United States in November and December 2014 .
2015, the band played at the Reading and Leeds festivals , toured in October with Slipknot and Suicidal Tendencies by North America , and in November by the United Kingdom . After the group allowed themselves an April Fool's joke with the announcement of a supposed single on April 1, 2016 , the news of the exit of their drummer Brandon Mullins came just three days later. Her second album Aggressive was released on June 3, 2016 via Red Bull Records .
In 2016 the group played a major headlining tour through the United States, which was accompanied by Silent Planet , Stray from the Path , My Ticket Home and Ghost Key , among others . In June the band will play for the first time at the UK Download Festival .
Lead guitarist Taylor Lumley left the band in April 2018. In June 2018, Zach Huston joined the band as the new lead guitarist. Connor Denis, who has appeared with the band as a live and session member since 2016, has also joined the band as an official member. Her third album Disease was released on September 28, 2018 via Red Bull Records .
style
Beartooth play a variant of metalcore on their debut EP Sick and the album Disgusting , which is heavily influenced by classic punk rock . Chad Childers of the online music portal Loudwire describes the music on Disgusting as "a mixture of modern metalcore and old-school punk ", while the British rock sound magazine has clear Nu-Metal influences and "massive refrains" on the musical style of the band adds.
Kory Grow from Rolling Stone , which Beartooth with Attack! Attack! compared, described the music as “personifying aggression, pop hooks and seductive hardcore riffing.” Justin Mabee of HM Magazine wrote that Beartooth's music on disgusting “mainly focuses on two essential essences, hardcore and thrash . Nevertheless Shomo manages to give each song its own character. "
Shomo himself said in an interview with the Alternative Press , when asked about the musical direction of the band, "that he just wanted to play hardcore, rock and punk, have fun and do wild shows, free from any outside pressure." why he renounced the use of electronic elements - which he had used in his earlier bands - Shomo replied, “that he didn't want to use electronic inserts in Beartooth's music to be more hardcore and punk-heavy. He also has an electro project and wants to avoid the music mixing up. ”The Kerrang! across from Shomo said "that he wanted to keep the style of music on the second album."
