UNFD (pronounced “Unified”) is a music label from Melbourne , Australia founded by Jaddan Comerford in 2011 . The label mainly sells national artists from the pop-punk , post-hardcore , metalcore and hardcore punk scenes. It also sells international bands from the US record label Hopeless Records exclusively in Australia and New Zealand .
history
The label was founded on January 1st, 2011 by Jaddan Comerford and emerged from his previous label Boomtown Records , which Comerford, inspired by emerging music labels like Epitaph Records , founded at the age of 18. In addition, Comerford gave up his company Staple Management, with which he worked in the field of music management. On August 5, 2011, Heartbound by Dream On, Dreamer was released, the label's first album, which reached number 38 in the Australian ARIA charts and was nominated for the ARIA Music Awards in the rock album of the year category.
At the end of January 2013, the label started a campaign under the heading “Singularity 2013”, for which it created its own website, which displayed a countdown that ended on February 22, 2013. Meanwhile, there was speculation among fans and in the media about a possible festival at which only bands from the label would appear. In fact, the countdown was the announcement of Northlane's Singularity album , which was released in April of the same year and entered the Australian charts at number three. Shortly afterwards, the label announced that they had signed the successful Australian band Dead Letter Circus . That same month received Chasing Ghosts of The Amity Affliction in Australia Gold status after it was sold in less than eight months after the publication of more than 35,000 times. In September 2014, the group signed a distribution deal with Rise Records to distribute the label's releases through Rise in North America.
Unify Gathering
The label has been hosting the Unify Gathering , a music festival for rock and metal bands, since 2015 . Mainly groups that are under contract with the UNFD appear together with international scene giants. The festival has been taking place on the Tarwin Meadows in the Gippsland region since it was first held. The Unify Gathering started as a two-day festival and is designed for 3,000 visitors. At the first Unify Gathering , The Amity Affliction , Northlane , Thy Art Is Murder , Deez Nuts , In Hearts Wake , Storm the Sky , Hand of Mercy , Antagonist AD , Confession , Hellions , Buried in Verona and Break Even played , which are extra reunited for this gig.
The second edition of the music festival performed a total of 18 groups on two festival days, including Parkway Drive , Tonight Alive , Neck Deep , State Champs , Stray from the Path , Hands Like Houses , Dream On, Dreamer , Make Them Suffer and Trophy Eyes . In addition, an all-star cover band was announced, consisting of Anthony Caruso and Matt Gravolin from the Hellions and Icon-for-Hire singer Duane Hill, who performed under the name The All Nighters and songs by artists such as Taylor Swift , Silverchair , Limp Bizkit and Slipknot covered, with the visitors of the music festival being allowed to vote on the songs played.
On June 22, 2016, the festival line-up for the third edition of the festival, which was expanded by a third day, was announced. Alexisonfire was booked as headliner, supported by House vs Hurricane , Every Time I Die , letlive , I Killed the Prom Queen , Moose Blood , King Parrot , Counterparts , The Getaway Plan and other groups. For this edition of the Unify Gathering , 2,000 early bird tickets were made available from June 3, 2016; Regular ticket sales began on June 24th.
Download festival
Live Nation has been reported to partner with UNFD to organize an offshoot of the famous download festival in Australia . The festival is scheduled to take place either at the end of 2017 or at the beginning of 2018. A few days later it became known that Live Nation had acquired the naming rights for the Australian festival offshoot, so that further planning has become possible even if the British festival organizer Andy Copping has not yet confirmed an official offshoot for Australia.
