Make Them Suffer is an Australian deathcore band from Perth, founded in 2008 .

history

Make Them Suffer was founded in Perth in 2008. On September 27, 2010, the band released their first EP Lord of Woe in self-distribution. A year later the band toured Australia with War from a Harlots Mouth and Thy Art Is Murder on the Soldiers of Immortallity Tour .

In February 2012 the band signed with Roadrunner Records and released their debut album Neverbloom in May of the same year . They released a single called Let Me In on May 12, 2014 .

On May 29, 2015, Make Them Suffer released their second album, Old Souls . The album reached number 30 on the Australian charts. It is a concept album that is about a protagonist's struggle with his inner demons. The protagonist is marked by war and losses. The story is told backwards on the album.

The band signed with Rise Records in January 2016 . In the same year they released a new single called Ether .

On June 7, 2017, the band released the single Fireworks and announced their third album, Worlds Apart , which was released in July of that year. The album is laid out as an enigmatic concept album, which is about a classic love story in a parallel universe that is reminiscent of the 1990s. The album reached number 29 on the Australian charts. The band then toured with Architects and Stray from the Path as well as on the Never Say Die tour with bands like Carnifex , Thy Art Is Murder and Whitechapel .

On June 9, 2017 it was announced that Chris Arias-Real, Lachlan Monty and Louisa Burton were no longer active in the band. Jaya Jeffery has been announced as the new bassist and Booka Nile as the new keyboardist and singer.

The band completed a headlining world tour in support of their Worlds Apart album in 2017 along with bands Wage War , Enterprise Earth , Novelists , Spite and Alpha Wolf . On July 24th, 2018, a new single called 27 was released. On June 7, 2019, the single Hollowed Heart was released.

Music genre

At the beginning, Make Them Suffer was a typical deathcore band that combined influences from Extreme Metal , especially Black Metal , with Metalcore-typical blast beats and breakdowns . From the second album, Old Souls , more emphasis was placed on grooves and emotionality than on musical hardness. There were also keyboard and synthesizer passages reminiscent of symphonic metal . The newer albums are more influenced by progressive alternative rock bands like Deftones and My Bloody Valentine than the earlier metalcore-heavy albums.
