history

Foundation and debut album

Buried in Verona, which was founded in Sydney in 2007, currently consists of the singer Brett Anderson, the three guitarists Richie Newman (also active as a background singer ), Daniel Gynn and Nate Martin, as well as the bassist Sean Gynn. Previously, Mick Taylor (guitar, 2007–2011), Katorgo Chituta (guitar, 2007–2011), Scott Richmond (electric bass, 2007–2011), Steve Rogers (drums, 2007–2008), Chris Mellross (drums, 2009 –2012) and Shane O'Brien (drums, 2012–2013) in the band. After the departure of drummer Rogers, Richie Newman briefly played drums within the band before joining the band as guitarist in 2010.

Shortly after the band was founded, the musicians drew Riot's interest ! Entertainment on itself. In 2008 this deal helped the band produce their debut album Circle the Dead , which was released at Powerhouse Studios by Greg Stace, Steve Smart and DW Norton. The latter has received two awards from ARIA . At the time, the group hadn't played a single show.

Second album: Saturday Night Sever

Buried in Verona meanwhile played support concerts for groups like Whitechapel . In 2010 the second album about Riot was released with Saturday Night Sever ! Entertainment , which in the meantime had concluded a publishing deal with Warner Music . The band flew to Sweden to record the album together with Fredrik Nordström .

In June of the same year Buried played in Verona together with Bermuda on a support tour with the British band Silent Screams through Australia, which included fifteen concerts.

Third album: Notorious

In the meantime, the group changed their label. The band signed with Artery Recordings for North America, UNFD for Australia and Europe, and Zestone Records for the Japanese market . In August 2012 the third album, Notorious , was released in Europe. It was produced again by Fredrik Nordström. A shorter tour of Great Britain followed in September as support for Motionless in White . In the meantime, Notorious entered the Australian album charts at number 20. At the ARIA Music Awards , the album was in the category Best Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Albums , which was not won.

Shortly after the tour with Motionless in White, the group flew back to Australia, where the band toured the country with The Amity Affliction , The Ghost Inside and Architects . In April 2013 the group could be seen together with Obey the Brave , Chelsea Grin and Attila supporting Emmure on The Mosh Lives tour through Europe. They also toured the United States and Europe with After the Burial .

In February 2013, drummer Shane O'Brien left the band to work as a drum technician for I Killed the Prom Queen . O'Brien later even became a permanent member of the band I Killed the Prom Queen, while Buried in Verona had to rely on temporary musicians until June of the same year, before a new drummer could be found in Connor Ward. Concerts with bands like I Killed the Prom Queen, House vs Hurricane and Savior followed.

Fourth album: Faceless

In September 2013 the band flew to the United States to work with producer Joey Sturgis on their fourth studio album. In the meantime, Notorious has been reissued with additional material. In January 2014, the group announced their fourth album, Faceless, for a release in early March. Faceless debuted at number 15 in the domestic album charts and stayed in the charts for a week.

In May 2014 the band toured Europe with Born of Osiris and Betraying the Martyrs . In July and August, the group played a concert tour of Australia as part of the Midway Mayhem Tour, which was accompanied by the New Zealand band Antagonist AD . In November and December 2014 the group was to tour Europe again with The Amity Affliction and Heart in Hand . The band had to cancel their performances and were replaced by The Plot in You .

On January 12, 2015, Sean and Daniel Gynn announced their departure from the band. They were replaced by Brandon Martel on bass and Mark Harris on guitar. Connor Ward also left the band in 2015. His successor was James Swanson.

Fifth album: Vultures Above, Lions Below

In September and October the group played an extensive concert tour of Australia to promote their album. The group was accompanied by Hand of Mercy . At the end of 2016 the band broke up.

style

The music of Buried in Verona is classified as a mix of hardcore punk , metalcore and death metal . The group is said to be following in the footsteps of national greats like I Killed the Prom Queen and Parkway Drive .

Due to the use of clear vocals and sing-a-longs in the choruses, the group can also be assigned to post-hardcore .
