history

Singer Charlie Holmes (2013)

Foundation, Heart in Hand EP and Only Memories

Heart in Hand was founded in August 2008 shortly after singer Charlie Holmes left his old band, Trigger the Bloodshed . He took on two musicians in guitarist Carl Martin and drums Nick Kendall. Martin and Kendall managed to recruit two more guitarists for the group in Edward Hartwell and Ollie Wilson, causing Carl Martin to switch from electric guitar to electric bass .

On January 1st, 2009, the group released their first EP, named after the band. This was financed out of pocket and produced by Stu McKay, a former musician of the band Eternal Lord . This was followed by support appearances for For the Fallen Dreams , Dead Swans , Carpathian and Gallows , which allowed the group to quickly gain a larger fan base. On May 23, 2011, the group's debut album, Only Memories, followed , which was released via Siege of Amida Records and Century Media . The album was originally supposed to be released earlier. However, the departure of drummer Nick Kendall in the fall of 2010 was the main reason for the delay, as the band was still writing the album at that time. Kendall was replaced by Duncan Andrews, a musician from Bristol . The album was produced by Andy Hayball, who also worked with Bring Me the Horizon and Slipknot . Shortly after the album was released, Andrews was also kicked out of the band and replaced by Samuel Brennan on drums. Brennan previously played in the metalcore band The Eyes of a Traitor .

Almost There , A Beautiful White and Resolution

In 2013 bassist Carl Martin left the group and was replaced by Gavin Thane. On February 11, 2013, Almost There was the band's second studio album via Siege of Amida Records. This album features James Leatherbarrow from Death of an Artist , Dani Winter-Bates from Bury Tomorrow , and Mikey Chapman and Sam Douglas, both from Mallory Knox , as guest musicians. The group released a music video each for Life Goes On and Almost There . To promote this album, the band toured extensively with artists including Bury Tomorrow, Bleed from Within , Deez Nuts , Miss May I , Stray from the Path , Obey the Brave, and Texas in July in over 19 states. Festival appearances at the Rock for People in the Czech Republic , the Summerblast in Germany , the Download Festival , the Slam Dunk Festival and the Resurrection Fest in Spain followed .

On November 3, 2014, the band's third and final studio album, A Beautiful White, was released. It was produced by Will Putney and was released through Century Media Records . In late 2014, the band toured Europe with Napoleon and The Plot in You as the opening act for The Amity Affliction . The group was originally supposed to tour with Liferuiner and Hand of Mercy in early 2015 , but the band announced their immediate breakup on February 13, 2015, so this concert tour had to be canceled.

Music genre

The music style of Heart in Hand could be assigned to Melodic Hardcore and Metalcore . On their debut album Only Memories , the songs could be integrated musically and tonally between Verse , Bring Me the Horizon and Parkway Drive . At times the music on their first album could also be classified as post-hardcore . Only the singing of Charlie Holmes is perceived as monotonous.

On the second album Almost There, the sound was at times described as melodic and wonderful, the songwriting as euphoric and the vocals as passionate with clever and bittersweet twists. The ambient guitar playing on this album was also praised. Kriston McConnell also described that Almost There had some memorable breakdowns and text passages. However, the album's long playing time with three instrumental pieces, which many reviewers have described as "fillers", was criticized negatively on this album.

The sound of the group on their last album A Beautiful White with Counterparts , Hundredth and Misery Signals was comparable . Vocally, singer Charlie Holmes on A Beautiful White sounds like a mixture of Oliver Sykes ( Bring Me the Horizon ) and Sam Carter ( Architects ). In terms of text, the group processed topics such as love , social relationships and naturalness on A Beautiful White . With the piece My Heart Belongs To Denmark , the group wrote an ode to the Scandinavian country .
