The Resurrection Fest is a multi-day music festival that has been taking place in Viveiro , Galicia , Spain since 2006 . The festival specializes in metal , punk rock and hardcore punk music. In 2019 the festival counted 110,000 visitors, making it one of the largest festivals in the world.
history
The festival was founded in 2006 by two then 18-year-old friends who are active in ONP Crew. After the mayor of Vivero approved the festival, the first festival was held under the name Summer Fest Viveiro . The reason for holding the festival was a performance by the American hardcore punk band Sick of It All , which played in the region for the first time. Entry was free.
The success was so great that a few months later the organizers organized a festival called Resurrection Fest . The first festival took place in November 2006. The headliners were Sick of It All and Walls of Jericho . In 2007 groups like Madball , Caliban , Ignite , Angel Crew , Napalm Death and Backfire played on the second edition of the festival, which was attended by more than 5,000 people.
In the other editions of the festival, groups such as Slayer , Lamb of God , Bad Religion , Down , Pennywise , Bullet for My Valentine , Lagwagon , Exodus , Trivium , The Adicts , No Use for a Name , The Misfits , Bring Me the Horizon , Gallows , Converge and Gorilla Biscuits . In 2013, almost 33,000 spectators attended the festival, which has been held over three days since 2010.
It became known that the festival made a profit of 3.3 million euros in 2013.
For 2013, Slayer have been confirmed as the headliner. Other bands that have been confirmed so far include: a. Bad Religion, Belvedere , Biohazard , Black Flag , The Casualties , Comeback Kid , Dawn of the Maya , Devil in Me , Killswitch Engage , Lamb of God, Mostomalta .
