Emmure is an American metalcore band from New Fairfield ( Connecticut ) that was founded in 2003. The name of the band is a mixture of the French verb emmurer and the English verb immure and means something like "to wall in something or someone".
history
Founding members Frankie Palmeri (vocals) and Joe Lionetti (drums) met on the Internet. Joe's brother Ben (electric guitar), Jesse Ketive (electric guitar) and bassist Mark Davis would later join the band. Some of the band members are from Queens ( New York ).
In April 2009, they finished a tour of Europe, on them as opening act for August Burns Red , Misery Signals occurred and Burn Down Rome. On May 1st, 2009 the two brothers Joe (drums) and Ben Lionetti (guitar) announced their departure from the band.
On 18 August 2009 the album was Felony published, the successor Speaker Of The Dead was released on 15 February 2011. In October 2011, the group parted from her drummer Mike Kaabe by SMS, after it was revealed that he on the Facebook - Account the band posted videos and remixes of themselves.
Mark Castillo, who already played for Between the Buried and Me , Bury Your Dead and Crossfade , is now Emmure's new drummer. The group is also working on their fifth studio album, called Slave to the Game , which was released in 2012. In March 2013 the group will perform in South America for the first time. Emmure have confirmed appearances in Buenos Aires , Santiago de Chile and São Paulo . A headlining European tour followed in April, with Chelsea Grin , Obey the Brave , Buried in Verona and Attila confirmed as support. This concert tour will include 29 performances through Germany , the Netherlands , the United Kingdom , the Republic of Ireland , Switzerland , France , Italy , Austria , Hungary , Poland , Sweden , Belgium, Slovenia , Denmark and the Czech Republic .
On May 5, 2013, the group's concert in Moscow had to be canceled because singer Palmeri suffered an electric shock due to a fault in the wiring during their set.
On April 15, 2014, Emmure released their sixth studio album, called Eternal Enemies . During the current European tour, drummer Mark Castillo was replaced by all-Shall-Perish drummer Adam Pierce. On December 22nd, 2015 it was announced that four musicians had left Emmure for unknown reasons, so singer Frankie Palmeri is the only remaining musician in the band. On April 22nd, 2016 Emmure played her first concert with a completely new line-up at the Impericon Festival in Oberhausen . The new musicians, guitarist Josh Travis and bassist Phil Lockett, played together in the band The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza , while Travis was also active with drummer Josh Miller at Glass Cloud .
Music genre
Emmure's musical style is often compared to bands like The Acacia Strain and From a Second Story Window . The classic breakdowns are there and the music, in contrast to that of some genre colleagues, is noticeably influenced by hardcore . With a few exceptions (e.g. Sleeping Princess In Devil's Castle ) the vocals are dominated by the very sharp screams and the aggressive growling of the singer.

Controversy
After Mike Kaabe, the band's drummer, had uploaded his own videos and remixes several times to the band's Facebook account, Frankie Palmeri kicked him out of the band via SMS. In a discussion with his stepbrother, Jesse Ketive - guitarist of the band - it became known that the band feared that Kaabe was supposed to have been a reason for being kicked out of the band because of his going it alone. Kaabe was also suspected of having serious drug problems . Kaabe says that he sniffed cocaine once and that the rest of the band took ecstasy and other drugs themselves.
"The best is they threw away their friendship with me that again has gone on with Frankie and Jesse more than half our lives over this nonsense."
