Glass Cloud was a metal band from Hampton , USA , which combined metalcore with progressive metal .

history

The band was formed in early 2011 after Jerry Roush's former band Sky Eats Airplane broke up two years earlier. While looking for new members for his own band, he accidentally came into contact with the guitarist Travis Sykes and the drummer Chad Hasty, whom Roush knew from his childhood. Both were former students of Berklee College of Music , where John Petrucci or Adam Dutkiewicz graduated. With former The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza guitarist Joshua Travis, with whom Roush was in contact from time to time, the band's line-up was complete. Since Roush maintained close contact with the American music label Equal Vision Records even after his first band broke up , a recording contract was concluded in this way.

In early March 2012, the band also signed a record deal with the Australian label UNFD , which took care of distribution on the continent. At the end of March the band released their first self-titled download single , which contained the songs White Flag and Counting Sheep , which were supposed to give a little taste of the upcoming debut album . The band then played alongside iwrestledabearonce and Molotov Solution on the Road to Metal Fest tour between April and May . In May 2012 the British label Basick Records announced that it would distribute Glass Cloud's first album in Europe .

In early July, the band released their first studio album, The Royal Thousand , which Joshua Travis himself produced. The idea for the name of the album came from the time the band was founded and should one day represent the band name. The lyrics of the album were mainly about love and personal experiences from the life of the band members. Shortly after the album was released, the band played alongside Texas in July , We Came as Romans and The Acacia Strain on the Scream It Like You Mean It tour. During The Alternative Press Tour with Miss May I and The Ghost Inside , among others , there was an accident near the Blue Mountains in November 2012 in which the van der band overturned. The band called for support by buying their merchandise . The band also set up a donation account on the PayPal payment system .

In April 2013 the band played a US tour alongside After the Burial , The Contortionist and Within the Ruins , which was followed by a month of touring Canada with Volumes and Beyond the Shore . For October the band announced a tour with Blessthefall and Oceans Ate Alaska through Great Britain, which should be the band's first tour in Europe.

In July, Travis Sykes and Chad Hasty left Glass Cloud and joined the post-hardcore band Glassjaw , which had just lost their bassist and drummer. Glass Cloud were thus dissolved. Josh Travis has played in the metalcore band Emmure since 2016 .
