history

Foundation and Black Diamonds -EP

Issues was launched in 2012 by former Woe, Is-Me singer Tyler Carter in Atlanta , Georgia . He announced in a statement that he wanted to cast the band with other former Woe, -Is-Me musicians, including Cory and Ben Ferris and Michael Bohn. Other members were AJ Rebollo and Case Snedecor.

Even before the musicians could start working on the EP Black Diamonds , Cory and Ben Ferris left the group because they were unable to work with the band in the studio. The two founded the group Cursed Sails in the same year . Tyler Acord and his brother Skyler stepped in as guest musicians for the production of the EP. In 2013 the two were firmly integrated into the group after their band Jake Vintson broke up. In a lengthy statement, which Tyler Acord published in November 2015, he was initially unsure whether he should join the band as a permanent member, since he was working at Atlantic Records at the time. After completing a tour with Silverstein in 2013, he promised a permanent engagement as a musician in the band, which he ended at the end of 2015 due to personal reasons.

The group's first concert tour was as part of the Party with the Devil Tour , with the group with Make Me Famous , Ice Nine Kills and Adestria as the opening act for Attila through the United States . The debut EP Black Diamonds was released on November 13, 2012 and rose to number 96 on the official US charts . As part of the Punk Goes Pop 5 compilation, the band recorded a cover of the song Boyfriend by Justin Bieber .

Debut album Issues and Diamond Dreams

The first release of 2013 was the stand-alone single Hooligans , which was released along with its own music video. In May 2013, drummer Case Snedecor left the band due to musical differences. Just a month later, Josh Manuel was his successor. On May 19, 2013, the group played their first concert as part of the Warped Tour .

Issues announced that they would re-record the EP Black Diamonds and release it as an acoustic EP, but this plan was no longer realized and no further details were published. The debut album should appear in November 2013, but the release date was initially moved to January 2014. In December the release was postponed again, this time to February 18, 2014. It was named after the band. Ultimately, the album was released worldwide on February 18, 2014 via Rise Records . It promptly entered the top ten on the US charts , where it finished ninth. Issues played another song again for the Punk Goes… series. The Christmas song Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays was recorded for Punk Goes Christmas . The compilation was released on November 2, 2013.

It was announced that the group in April 2014 together with Beartooth as the opening act for Of Mice & Men by Europe will tour. In February and March 2014, the band toured with Of Mice & Men as part of The American Dream Tour through the United States and Canada . This tour was also accompanied by Northlane , Letlive and Bring Me the Horizon . Issues also announced that the band would complete the full Warped Tour in 2014. The band was also booked for the sister festival Reading and Leeds .

On December 5, 2014, the group played a concert with Sleepwave and Young Guns as the opening act for Bring Me the Horizon at Wembley Arena in London . Between October and December 2014, the group toured the United States with I Killed the Prom Queen and Ghost Town . On November 18, 2014, the second EP called Diamond Dreams was released . For this purpose, older pieces of the group were set to music with acoustic instruments. A physical copy was included with the new edition of the debut album, but as an independent EP it was only released on December 2, 2014 on a digital level. In the first week of sales, the album was sold almost 4,000. In March and April 2015 Issues was the opening act for Pierce the Veil and Sleeping with Sirens on their joint European tour.

Headspace

On May 28, 2015, the musicians announced that they had started writing the second studio album. The band finished recording the album on August 17, 2015. Four days before work on the new album began, the group toured the United States with Tonight Alive and State Champs as support act for All Time Low . The tour began on April 15, 2015 and ended on 24 May 2015. On July 22, 2015, the group received an award for "Artist of the Year" at the Alternative Press Music Awards , which in the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland , Ohio awarded were. From October 1st to 25th, 2015, the band is touring the United States and Canada as support for Bring Me the Horizon . After Tyler Acord had announced in January 2015 that he would not appear with the band this year, he announced in November via Twitter that he would be leaving the band completely in order to take care of his new role as a music producer. He said he was only available to the group as a guest musician. On March 24, 2016, the band presented The Realest, the first song from the new album, which is called Headspace , and announced that the new album will be released on May 20, 2016.

From March 20 to April 18, 2016, the group is touring North America as the headliner of the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour . This concert tour is accompanied by Crown the Empire , One Ok Rock and Night Verses . The band spends the summer of 2016 at several major music festivals, including the Slam Dunk Festival , the sister festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park , as well as on the entire Warped Tour .

Music genre

The group's musical style has been described by several reviews of the Black Diamonds -EP as Metalcore with influences from contemporary R&B . The musicians themselves say that the band tries to mix successful top 40 music with metal , such as Nu Metal , which combines the genres of Heavy Metal and Hip-Hop .
