Derek Tyler Carter (born December 30, 1991 in Suwanee , Georgia ) is an American rock musician .

He played in the band Woe, Is Me and founded the group Issues after leaving .

Life

Derek Tyler Carter was born in Suwanee , Georgia on December 30, 1991 and grew up in Habersham County , Georgia. Carter learned to play the drums at a young age . In his high school years he played with A Pass Less Traveled where he met Michael Bohn, who would later found the band Woe, Is Me with him .

When he was in high school, he planned to make music with his best friend. Negotiations were held with various concert agencies and record companies, which were well advanced before it became known in October 2008 that his best friend had died in a traffic accident. He wanted to give up his dream of becoming a musician and enroll as a psychology student at Auburn University . However, he canceled this plan after Rise Records showed interest in Woe, Is Me.

In a 2013 interview, Tyler came out as bisexual.

Career

In 2009 he was recorded together with Michael Bohn at Woe, Is Me, because they were looking for a clean singer and a shouter. With Woe, Is Me he released the album Number [s] , which was released on Rise Records . After leaving Woe, Is Me, he first worked on his solo career and signed with Velocity Records , the sub-label of Rise Records. Woe, Is Me is no longer active.

In 2012 he founded the rock band Issues , which released an EP and an album on Rise Records.
