It's Now or Never is the debut album by the Ukrainian trancecore band Make Me Famous . The album was released on March 27, 2012 in North America and on April 13, 2012 worldwide. It was released on the US label Sumerian Records . The album was produced by Serj Kravchenko and Denis Shaforostov, who are also musicians of the band.
A total of 30 songs were written for this album, of which only 14 were selected. As a bonus track, the song Make It Precious was recorded as an acoustic version and put on the album. One month before the US release date on March 27, 2012, It's Now or Never could be pre-ordered as a bundle with a T-shirt in stores like Merchconnect. 17 days after its release in the US, the album was finally released worldwide on April 13, 2012. To promote the album, the group accompanied For Today on their Fight the Silence Tour , which included 34 concerts.
The sound is very reminiscent of the music of the British trancecore band Asking Alexandria . The album hit the charts in April. It landed at number 151 on Billboard's US charts . The album was perceived rather negatively on several online platforms.
Emergence
production
On September 30, 2011, the group announced on their YouTube channel that they had been signed by Sumerian Records . On October 2, 2011, We Know It's Real was the first single via iTunes . A lyric video for this piece was also released on the music label's YouTube channel. The second single, Make It Precious , was released on February 28, 2012, one day after the album could be pre-ordered. The group made a music video for this single. The album was produced by Denis Shaforostov and Serj Kravchenko, both musicians in the band. The singers Tyler Carter (ex- Woe, Is Me ) on the song Inception and Johnny Franck (ex- Attack Attack! ) In the track I Am a Traitor can be heard as guest musicians on the album .
The songs Once You Killed a Cow, You Gotta Make a Burger , Make It Precious and I Am a Traitor were already released on the band's Facebook and YouTube profiles before they were signed by Sumerian Records. The latter was originally called I Am a Traitor. No One Does Care . After touring the USA and Canada with I See Stars in January 2012 , the group started a second tour in March with For Today and Stick to Your Guns . This tour served as a promotion for this album, which was released on March 27, 2012 in the USA. 17 days after the release in the USA, the worldwide release of the album took place on April 13, 2012. In Germany , the album is distributed as a CD by EMP , Amazon and Impericon , as well as as a download via iTunes .
Cover
The cover artwork comes from singer Serj Kravchenko, who produced, mastered and mixed the album together with Denis Shaforostov. This shows a fist stretched towards the sky on a dark background. Below this fist you can read the band name and the album title.
Songs
For the album, the band wrote a total of 30 songs from which the band selected 14 tracks. An acoustic version of Make It Precious was recorded as a bonus track. During the recordings of Serj Kravchenko's vocal part, the window was open so that a neighbor's dog could be heard during the recordings. During the tracking, this part was later used in a breakdown at the end of the song for fun, but was completely removed at the end. Except for the drum parts, all parts were mixed in the Ukraine. The group found a drummer in the American Dusty Boles, who previously played in the bands Rose Funeral and Serpents . Boles became aware of Make Me Famous on the Internet and wrote to the band via their Facebook account. Boles recorded all of the drum parts in the US and was later mixed by Denis Shaforostov in Ukraine.

style
music
The music of Make Me Famous can be described throughout the album as post-hardcore which is mixed with elements of electronic music , especially techno . This crossing of these two genres is what experts call trancecore . The music is very reminiscent of the label colleagues Asking Alexandria . With Denis Shaforostov, Sergei Hohlov and Serj Kravchenko, the group has three singers. Shavorostov takes on the clean vocals, Kravchenko takes on the guttural vocals and Hohlov is the background singer . The music is complex in all of the songs. In some songs, techno takes over the post-hardcore sound in others. In most of the songs on the album, the group uses multiple breakdowns .
In an interview with American Music Press, Kravchenko describes the band's music style as a mix of Black Veil Brides , Asking Alexandria, Parkway Drive , The Devil Wears Prada and Bring Me the Horizon . In the same interview, he says that the musicians are influenced by a wide variety of musicians and bands, including Mötley Crüe , Aerosmith , Skid Row , Guns N 'Roses , Slipknot , 30 Seconds to Mars , Marilyn Manson , Kings of Leon , Nine Inch Nails , The Prodigy and Dev and The Cataracs .
Texts
In an interview with “Sound Scene Press”, Gruppe said that each song should convey its own message, which each listener determines for himself. Most of the group's songs, however, are about personal experiences, failed relationships and love.
Song title
Some song titles, such as This Song Is Blacker Than Black Metal (in German: "This song is blacker than Black Metal ") or Once You Killed a Cow, You Gotta Make a Burger ("As soon as you've killed a cow, do a burger ”), seem ironic . The song title Ifyuocnaraedtihsmkaemeasnadwich, on the other hand, is a play on words and means “If You Can Read This Make Me a Sandwich” (German: “Make me a sandwich if you can read that”).
