history

Foundation as "Amongst Us" and new foundation as "Asking Alexandria"

The band has its roots in the United Arab Emirates . It was founded in 2003 under the name Amongst Us by guitarist Ben Bruce in Dubai . Shortly after the band was founded, some members left the country, so Ben Bruce also emigrated. In an interview with Gulf News , Bruce confirmed that he will be leaving Dubai.

"It was ridiculously hard to keep the band going because people come and go in Dubai."

"It was really hard to keep the band going because people come and go in Dubai."

- Ben Bruce Gulf News

With new members and new song material, the name of the band changed to End Of Reason . The name was chosen after trying for a long time without success to find a name that had a good background. The band released their EP Tomorrow.Hope.Goodbye under this name . With this EP, the band not only reaped great commercial success, but also contract offers from the US label Sonicwave International and the British label Hangmans Joke Recordings. Shortly after the release, the band went on a concert tour as an opener for bands like Jimmy Eat World , boysetsfire and Pennywise .

After increasing success, the name was changed again to Asking Alexandria in 2007 . On June 25, 2007, the band released their debut album The Irony of Your Perfection on Hangman's Joke Recordings. Then the band went on a nine-month concert tour during which the band also gave concerts in Germany , Sweden , France and the Netherlands . Bruce said in an interview that the band, which was formed in Dubai, wanted to break up.

2008–2009: UK start-up and Stand Up and Scream

In 2008 Bruce moved back to England to plan his further music career, but he didn't know what to do, so he was looking for new members who would like to start a new band with him. After he was able to find new members, the band Asking Alexandria was launched again. Bruce said on his Myspace blog that he was the name finder and the current band cannot be compared to the previous band and their releases.

The band has already gone through several crew changes, for example Ryan Binns ( synthesizer ) and Joe Lancaster ( bass ) left the band . The latter was replaced by bassist Sam Bettley. Between 2008 and 2009 the band went on tour. In May 2009 the band signed a contract with Sumerian Records , where the band released their debut album Stand Up And Scream . It was released on September 15, 2009 . Then the band went on tour again to expand their fame in the United States . The band went on concert tour with the likes of Alesana , Enter Shikari , The Bled and Evergreen Terrace .

Concerts took place in Argentina , Chile , Brazil , Colombia and Venezuela . Again Miss May I and Chelsea Grin appeared on the tour as opening acts.

2013–2014: From Death to Destiny

In addition to their current tour activity, the group worked on the third studio album, due for release in 2013. The English-language Revolver Magazine took this album into the list of "Most Anticipated Albums of 2012" ("the long-awaited albums 2012").

On May 1, 2012, the group released the trailer for their short film "Through Sin + Self-destruction", which was released on May 15, 2012 and which is supposed to depict the "real life of today's rock musicians without censoring". A video trilogy (consisting of the songs "Reckless & Relentless", "To the Stage" and "Dear Insanity") can be seen in the film. This short film is available from iTunes .

A European tour started on January 21, 2013, with performances in Brussels , Amsterdam , Hamburg , Copenhagen , Stockholm , Gothenburg , Berlin , Prague , Vienna , Munich , Milan , Zurich , Wiesbaden , Cologne and Luxembourg . In addition, the band presented a new song, which should appear on this. On May 20, 2013 it was announced that From Death to Destiny is expected to be released on August 6, 2013. It was released at the beginning of August and was able to position itself in several national charts.

The group toured the United States with Chimaira , Whitechapel , I Killed the Prom Queen, and Motionless in White . This tour was called the Don't Pray for Us Tour . It started on April 19, 2013, Wichita ( Kansas ) and ended on May 25, 2013, a performance at the Rocklahoma festival in Pryor ( Oklahoma ). Asking Alexandria played at several festivals in June and July, including Rock am Ring and With Full Force . At the end of September and October the group can be seen for several concerts with Korn and Love and Death . Before that, the group will play a tour of South America at the end of August . Performances are planned in Chile , Colombia , Brazil , Argentina and Mexico . Motionless in White have been confirmed as co-headliners.

On December 3, 2013, the single The Final Episode (Let's Change the Channel) was awarded a gold record in the United States .

Since 2015: Worsnop's resignation and return, inauguration and departure of Denis Stoff, The Black

Bassist Sam Bettley, With Full Force 2018

In addition, a new song was released with I Won't Give In . On September 29th, the second song Undivided , recorded with Denys Schaforostow, was released. On December 24, 2015, the fourth studio album entitled The Black was announced, which was released on March 25, 2016. 2017–2019: Asking Alexandria self-titled album and deluxe version LP5 DLX

The self-titled album Asking Alexandria was released on December 15, 2017. Almost two years later, on December 27, 2019, the band released a deluxe version of the self-titled album under the name LP5 DLX ; In addition to the original songs on the album, it contains six other previously unreleased bonus tracks.

style

The band plays melodic metalcore and mixes it with electro elements, but the band does not call itself a trancecore band and distances itself from musical influences like Enter Shikari . The singer Danny Worsnop changes his vocals constantly, so changes also occur during the songs. He alternates between hard growls and screamings as well as clear vocals . His successor Denis Stoff also carries the vocalistic style, whose pitch was inspired by Worsnop during the stand-up-and-scream era, but complements it with light rap on live shows.
