history

Work before Love and Death

After Brian Welch left KoЯn in 2005 , he first began recording a solo album. This appeared under his stage name "Head" and is called Save Me from Myself . He has also published two biographies so far. The exit at Kon came because Welch, with his newly found love for God, distanced himself more and more from the drug and sex life of his bandmates at KoЯn. Another reason for leaving was his daughter. One day when he came home he heard his daughter sing a song by KoЯns. The exit eventually turned into a media battle. He also suffered from drug problems and depression. In May 2010 he was baptized in the Jordan River .

Foundation: Between Here & Lost

In 2012, Welch founded Love and Death . With JR Bareis ( electric guitar ), Michael Valentine ( electric bass ) and Dan Johnson ( drums ) three other musicians joined Welch, who acts as singer and guitarist . The musicians were cast in Phoenix , Arizona after Welsh announced a musician casting on Youtube in 2009 . The original formation had two other musicians: Bryan Ruedy as guitarist and Ralph Patlan on keyboard , but Ruedy joined the Whitesnake group and Patlan left the band for no known reason. In the same year, Chemicals (released on April 24, 2012) was the first self- released EP .

The group has already toured Brazil and shortly thereafter gave another tour from April 30th to May 24th 2012 with RED , Icon for Hire and POD The concert tour led through Arizona , Alabama , Pennsylvania , Maryland , New York , Michigan , Illinois , Wisconsin , Montana , Tennessee, and North Carolina .

In 2012 the musicians began recording their debut album, which is called Between Here & Lost . It was produced by former Red guitarist and producer Jasen Rauch (also with Breaking Benjamin ) and was released on January 22, 2013 via Tooth & Nail Records . In addition, Paul Pavao, Jim Monti and Ben Grosse (the latter already worked with Marilyn Manson and Slipknot ) worked on the album . Guest vocalist Mattie Montgomery from For Today . There is also a cover of the track Whip It by Devo on the album. Between Here & Lost reached number 81 on Billboard's official US charts .

The album was originally planned to be released on November 20, 2012, but the date was postponed to the end of January. Starting February 21, the group will tour the States again . The tour is scheduled to last until March 17, 2013 and is to promote the debut album. The concert tour will take in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey ( Asbury Park ), New York, Ohio , Michigan, Texas , Illinois, Kentucky , Tennessee and West Virginia . The tour is called "War of Change Tour".

style

The music in Love and Death can largely be compared to the music of the band KoЯn . The group plays a mix of alternative metal and nu-metal . Unlike KoЯn, Love and Death's lyrics also contain Christian themes.

Band name

The musicians chose the band name together. Welch cited the reason that he didn't want to be the loner again that he was at times when he was with KoЯn. He says that the name came to him one night and that he discussed it with the other musicians so they could give their own opinion.
