history

In July 2010 the band was formed in Dallas, Texas by singer Andrew Velasques, bassist / guitarist Hayden Tree, guitarist Brendon Hoover and keyboardist Austin Duncan. At that time, the four musicians were still in high school . Initially, Alex Massey, a drummer, joined the group, but was quickly replaced by Brent Taddie. Massey can only be heard on the debut EP Limitless .

The EP Limitless was released on November 29, 2011 only on digital level. Denis Shaforostow, former singer of Make Me Famous , can be heard on the title track . The group produced the first music video for the piece Voices , which can also be found on the EP. The video was officially released on YouTube in December 2011.

The band completed their first tour between March 3rd and 7th, 2012 as a support act for A Skylit Drive . In late March it was rumored that the group had been signed by Rise Records . These were nourished by statements made public by the record company and the group themselves in a very short period of time. On March 23, 2012, the signature was finally announced by Rise Records.

In May 2012, Crown the Empire was announced as the opening act for a tour of Pierce the Veil announced in September , which was to lead through the United Kingdom. In August, David Escamilla became the second singer in the band. They worked with Joey Sturgis on their debut album, which was released as The Fallout on November 19, 2012.

In August 2012, the group toured with Chelsea Grin , Upon This Dawning and Stick to Your Guns as opening act for Motionless in White . Crown the Empire's first concert tour as a main band was in May 2013 with Capture the Crown and Palisades . Previously the band was part of the Rise Records Spring Tour, which took place between April and May. Other bands that played on this tour included Like Moths to Flames and The Color Morale . The group spent the summer of 2013 on the Warped Tour . In December the group played again with Asking Alexandria. This time We Came as Romans , Born of Osiris and August Burns Red were also there.

The album The Resistance: Rise of The Runaways , developed with Dan Korneff , was released in 2014. It rose to number 7 on the Billboard 200 chart in the USA . The day before the album was released , the group won the Alternative Press Music Awards in the Best Newcomer and Breakthrough Artist category.

As in the year before, the group did the entire Warped Tour in 2014 . In October and November 2014 the group will play a European tour with The Ghost Inside and Secrets as the opening act for Asking Alexandria. In 2015, The Resistance: Rise of The Runaways was reissued with additional material, including the new singles Prisoners of War and Cross Your Bones . On November 6, 2015, Bennett Vogelman announced he was leaving the group.

Crown The Empire released their third studio album, Retrograde , in 2016 . The album debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200 chart. Singer David Escamilla left the band towards the end of the year.

January 2018 the band played a new song called 20/20 live. This was officially published on July 13, 2019. "What i am" was released on September 20th and "Sudden Sky" on April 5th. The band released the song "MZRY" on June 19th and announced their next album, "Sudden Sky", for July 19th.

style

The group plays a classic, harder variant of metal or post-hardcore and also uses influences from electronic music , which is why Crown the Empire can also be called a trance or electrocore band. The musicians describe their style of music as "Arena Rock Hardcore".
