Walter Slotosch

Walter Karl Slotosch (born April 23, 1911 in Königshütte , Province of Silesia , † 2006 ) was a German economist , business journalist and publicist.

Life

Slotosch was born the son of an industrialist in Upper Silesia . He studied law and political science at the Technical University of Danzig , the Technical University of Berlin , the University of Geneva and the University of Greifswald . In 1935 he was at the University of Breslau with the dissertation The importance of foreign trade for today's Poland to Dr. rer. pole. PhD . Then he was an assistant at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

From 1938 to 1942 he worked as a department head at the German Institute for Economic Research in Berlin.

From 1945 to 1951 he was Councilor at the Bavarian State Statistical Office in Munich. In 1948 he became head of the economic department of the Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich.

From 1951 to 1965 he was head of the business editorial department of the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Munich and business commentator for Bavarian Broadcasting . In 1952, he was the only journalist in the Federal Republic to be admitted to the Moscow World Economic Conference. In the 1950s he introduced an economic report for the Süddeutsche Zeitung . He also wrote editorials . In addition, he took u. a. participated in a cultural exchange program to the USA .

He was also a participant in the Bergedorf discussion group on issues relating to the free industrial society of the Körber Foundation .

Slotosch was married and the father of three children. He lived in Grünwald near Munich.

Work and reception

He was a successful publicist among German business journalists. Slotosch is a staunch supporter of a stability policy .
