The Color Morale is a post-hardcore / metalcore band from Rockford , Illinois , formed in 2007 .

history

Foundation and We All Have Demons (2007-2010)

The Color Morale was founded in 2007 in Rockford , Illinois by singer Garret Rapp, bassist Justin Hieser, drummer Steve Carey and the two guitarists Ramon Mendoza and John Bross after the musicians decided to break up their previous band called The Killer Apathy. Hieser was the only member who was not active in this band.

In early June 2009, the band was signed by the US record company Rise Records . It was planned to release the debut album in September of the same year. The album is called We All Have Demons and was produced by Joey Sturgis at Foundation Studios in Connersville , Indiana . It was released on September 1, 2009. In 2010, the group toured North America with The Bled on the Rise Records tour .

My Devil in Your Eyes (2010-2012)

At the end of 2010, the group began work on the follow-up album to We All Have Demons and moved into the studio with Joey Sturgis who had already produced the band's debut album. It's called My Devil in Your Eyes and was released worldwide on March 11, 2011 via Rise Records. Shortly before the album was released, bassist Justin Hieser left the group and was replaced by Anthony Wick. However, Wick did not stay in the band for long, as Hieser rejoined the group in the same year.

Before the first concert of the Scream It Like You Mean It tour, the engagement of guitarist John Bross ended because he had got engaged and wanted to start a family. Hieser switched to the rhythm guitar and the bass tracks were played with samples at concerts. In September and October 2011, the group played a European tour with Memphis May Fire and Dream On, Dreamer . In 2012 Ryan Pulice, a former member of the band Rosaline , joined the band as the new bass player. In August 2012 it was announced that guitarist Ramon Mendoza would step down in order to have more time for his family. Devin King, who was previously active as a merch seller and session musician with the band, was accepted as a replacement.

Know Hope (2012-2014)

In mid-2012 it was announced that the group is in the middle of the writing phase for the third studio album, which is called Know Hope . Either the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013 was given as a possible publication period. A total of 22 songs were written for the album, twelve of which were later included on the album. For the first time, it was not Sturgis who was at work as a producer, but Josh Schroeder.

It was also announced that John Bross was definitely no longer a member of the band and Ryan Pulice was also kicked out of the band, whereby Aaron Saunders became the new rhythm guitarist and Justin Hieser switched back to bass. Know Hope was released on March 25, 2013 and placed for the first time at number 106 in the official US album charts . On January 1, 2014 it was announced that the group would play on the Warped Tour .

Signature with Fearless Records and Hold On Pain Ends (since 2014)

On April 10, 2014 it was announced that the group had signed a record deal with Fearless Records . The group's label debut, Hold On Pain Ends , was also announced and will be released in 2014. A day later, Mike Honson was introduced to replace Justin Hieser. On July 23, 2014, the first single called Outer Demons was released .

On July 2, 2014, the cover design and track list of the new album was published. The pre-order phase for the album started on the same day. The second single, Suicide; Stigma , featuring David Stephens of We Came as Romans , was released later this month. The release was scheduled for September 2, 2014 in North America . In Europe, the album was released ten days later. On September 2, the group released their music video for the song Prey for Me . In the US, the album debuted at number 28 in the US album charts . Between September 9, 2014 and October 5, 2014 the group can be seen alongside Crossfaith , Palisades and For Today as opening act for We Came as Romans in the United States . Immediately afterwards there will be a tour with The Word Alive , which will mostly lead through the United Kingdom , but also through Germany , France and the Netherlands . As part of the Get Real Tour , which takes place at the end of 2014, the group will appear again as the opening act for The Word Alive. The tour, which only takes place in the United States , is also accompanied by Our Last Night , Miss Fortune and The Dead Rabbitts . On the European tour Hold on Pain Ends they were u. a. supported by Ash Is a Robot .

On January 22, 2018, the musicians announced that the group would be on hiatus indefinitely.

style

The group plays a modern twist on post-hardcore which is heavily influenced by metalcore . At times the music of The Color Morale is reminiscent of The Chariot or the early Underoath . The music of The Color Morale can also be compared to Of Mice & Men . Garret Rapp's vocals are at times compared to Jeremy McKinnon ( A Day to Remember ) and Jonny Craig ( Slaves ). In the scene, the group is known as a Christian band, even if the musicians themselves deny that The Color Morale is a Christian band.
