history

Miss Fortune was founded in McAllen , Texas in 2012 . The group consists of singer Mikey Sawyer , the two guitarists Harley Graves and Josh Kikta Thelander, as well as bassist Ian Marchionda and drummer Jace Thomas. Former musicians are drummer Luke Holland, bassist Baker Smith and singer Eddie Cano. Both the former and the current musicians play or have played in well-known bands, including Close Your Eyes , The Word Alive , Make Me Famous and Famous Last Words .

In December 2013, the band signed a contract with the record company Sumerian Records . On May 19, 2014, the debut album A Spark to Believe was released via Sumerian. In April and May 2014 the group toured with Like Moths to Flames and Ghost Town as the opening act for I See Stars . A summer tour followed with Outline in Color and The Animal in Me . The original plan was that Miss Fortune as the opening act on the Get Real Tour of The Word Alive participate, but the group was deleted from the tour cast on October 29, 2014. The reason for this was the arrest of the singer Mikey Sawyer for domestic violence. On the same day, Sumerian Records announced that they no longer wanted to work with the group due to the incident and terminated the contract. On November 4, 2014, Sawyer was exonerated and released from prison.

On April 3, 2020, the second album, which was titled after the group, was released on their own. On June 25 of the same year the band announced that they had signed a contract with We Are Triumphant . An EP entitled Cruel Summer will be released on this label in 2020 .

Music genre

Miss Fortune play a melodic variant of post-hardcore . The music is comparable to Emarosa , Akissforjersey , A Skylit Drive and the late Woe, Is Me . The singing can be compared to Jonny Craig and Tyler Carter . The British magazine Kerrang! wrote that Miss Fortune could be "the lost part of the trio with Pierce the Veil and Sleeping with Sirens ".
