Jeremy Wade McKinnon (born December 17, 1985 in Gainesville , Florida ) is an American rock musician and record producer . He gained fame mainly through his work as the front singer of the post-hardcore band A Day to Remember .

Career

Jeremy McKinnon was born on December 17, 1985 in Gainesville, Florida and has two sisters. Before he started working as a musician, he worked at the Boston Market fast food chain and later as a construction worker . His musical interest was sparked by a friend who was active in a band. He began writing songs to deal with personal experiences, such as his troubled time in high school in Ocala , Florida .

McKinnon's first band was called All for Nothing and played ska-punk . Shortly afterwards he joined the musicians Tom Denney and Bobby Scruggs to finally found A Day to Remember . Together with bassist Joshua Woodard, he founded the record company Running Man Records , which works with Epitaph Records .

In a 2012 interview, he said that he had no plans to release a solo album anytime soon. In addition to being the front singer of A Day to Remember, McKinnon also works as a music producer . He has already recorded albums with The Devil Wears Prada , The Ghost Inside , Neck Deep , Wage War , as well as with his own band A Day to Remember. As a guest musician, he has worked with Pierce the Veil , Mest , August Burns Red , In Fear and Faith and For the Fallen Dreams .

On December 25, 2016, McKinnon married his longtime girlfriend, Stephanie Morrison. In early December 2017 he became the father of a daughter.

Musical influence

McKinnon counts the punk band Millencollin as the greatest musical influence and describes Less Than Jake as the greatest influence on his stage appearance. He also names The Flaming Lips and Rammstein as other influences.
