Secrets (spelling: SECRETS ) is a post-hardcore band from San Diego , California, founded in 2010 .

history

Foundation and debut album The Ascent

Secrets was founded by several former musicians from the post-hardcore band A City Serene after they were unable to continue making music and broke up due to a devastating car accident in which a musician was temporarily in a coma . Founding members are singer Xander Bourgeois, bassist Marc Koch, drummer Joe English and lead guitarist Michael Sherman. Shortly after the founding, Richard Rogers, a rhythm guitarist, joined the group. Rogers is also the clean singer of the band.

The band quickly got a record deal with Velocity Records , the sub-label of Rise Records . Initially, the group planned to produce an EP, but musicians in the studio decided to record a full album instead of an EP. This is called The Ascent and was officially released worldwide on January 16, 2012. This debuted at number 185 in the US album charts a The Ascent was developed by Tom Denney , former guitarist of A Day to Remember produced.

The group toured with bands like Sleeping with Sirens , Attack Attack! and Escape the Fate to promote their album. The group was also part of the Scream It Like You Mean It tour in 2012 . During this tour, bassist Marc Koch decided to leave the band in order to be able to concentrate on his school career. This was replaced by Michael Owens as bassist.

In November and December 2012 the band played with Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! and Our Last Night as opening act for Woe, Is Me . Previously, Secrets played four concerts in the UK with Memphis May Fire and Of Mice & Men .

Second album: Fragile Figures and Renditions EP

In April 2013 singer Xander Bourgeois left the group. He said he had started drug therapy and did not want to neglect his goals of sobering up. Bourgeois was replaced by Aaron Melzer. Bourgeois and the former bassist Marc Koch founded the band The Haven in late 2013 .

On July 23, 2013, Fragile Figures was the group's second album, also via Velocity Records. It debuted at number 59 on the charts. The album was reissued on May 27, 2014 with three new songs and a remix for the song Ready for Repair , in which Kyle Lucas and Jonny Craig are involved. The band spent the summer of 2013 on the Warped Tour . In January 2014 it was said that the group was re-confirmed for the Warped Tour.

In September and October 2013, the group was part of Jonny Craig's Souls on Fire tour .

In May 2014, Michael Owens announced that he would no longer be bassist for the band. At this point, the group was playing with The Amity Affliction and Silverstein as opening act for Blessthefall . First Tim Trad filled the post of bassist as a session musician, later Connor Branigan took over this position, also as a guest musician. In October 2014, the group started their second European tour as the opening act for Asking Alexandria , The Ghost Inside and Crown the Empire . The group made their first tour through Europe in early 2014 as the opening act for Our Last Night .

Between March 20, 2015 and May 16, 2015, the band toured as the opening act for The Devil Wears Prada . During the tour, which led through the United States and Canada , Sleepwave , Born of Osiris and The Word Alive were also seen. On April 7, 2015, the group released an acoustic EP with four titles. Three tracks are from the album Fragile Figures , the fourth song is also a single for the upcoming third studio album. This track is called What's Left of Us and was released on the same day. The EP was produced by Saosin's guitarist Beau Burchell .

Between October 8th and November 2nd, 2015, the band will be on a concert tour of the United States with The Plot in You and Cruel Hand support band for Chelsea Grin and The Amity Affliction . On October 3rd, 2015, five days before the tour began, Screamer Aaron Melzer announced his departure from the band. On the same day, the band announced that Wade Walters would take over the post of Screamer. Walters has also recorded the third studio album with the band, which is still to be released.

Third album: Everything That Got Us Here

On October 14, 2015, the band released Left Behind, their first song with their new singer Wade Walters. On the same day, the group announced their third studio album, Everything That Got Us Here , for December 11, 2015.
