Kyle Lucas

Kyle Lucas (* 1986 in Marietta , Georgia ) is an American rapper .

Life

Lucas was born in Marietta , Georgia . He is a fan of Outkast , Boyz II Men but also Gym Class Heroes , Fall Out Boy and Coheed and Cambria . He described the latter as a favorite group in an interview. Lucas made the decision to become a rapper in third grade. At the age of 15 he converted his room into a small recording studio and taught himself how to use the recording programs.

He is friends with Jonny Craig , who has worked with Lucas several times.

Career

At the age of 22, Lucas played in the hip-hop band Vonnegutt , which also incorporated influences from pop and rock music into their music . After a published demo, which by chance came into the hands of former Outkast musician Big Boi , the group was signed by his label Purple Ribbon Records . With the group he released an EP and a mixtape. In addition, the group played in 2010 at the SXSW in Austin , Texas . Two years later he was to play again as a solo artist at the music festival. The band was also seen together with Big Boi on the Late Show with David Letterman , where they presented the piece Follow Us together .

So far, Kyle Lucas has released several mixtapes as a solo artist , as well as a collaboration album with Jonny Craig and Captain Midnite , as well as a full studio album. While the collaboration album was released under the title The Blueprint for Going in Circles via Artery Recordings , he released his debut album Marietta, Georgia: The Album on his own, initially on a digital and a little later on a physical level as a music CD.

Kyle Lucas has been a guest singer in songs by the American rock band Slaves , which is led by Craig. These tracks are called The King and the Army That Stand Behind Him from the debut album Through Art We Are All Equals and Share the Sunshine Young Bloot Pt. II from the successor Routine Breathing published in 2015 .

On September 12, 2015, Kyle Lucas started a concert tour at national level in the opening act of Jonny Craig, which was also accompanied by Travis Garland . The tour ended after 32 appearances on October 18, 2015 in El Paso , Texas . In January and February of the same year, Lucas and Craig toured the States together as part of The Blueprint for Going in Circles Tour . He also accompanied Craig on his tour of Australia , which took place in May 2014.

Musical influences

In several interviews, Lucas named artists such as Outkast , Boyz II Men , but also Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria and Vic Fuentes from Pierce the Veil as musical influences . Lucas is said to have a rap style similar to Macklemore , but without being able to match his talent.
