Claudio Paul Sanchez III (born March 12, 1978 in Suffern , New York ) is an American rock musician and cartoonist with Puerto Rican and Italian roots.

Sanchez is known for his work as the singer and guitarist for the progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria . In addition, Sanchez is leading another musical project with The Prize Fighter Inferno .

Life

Claudio Paul Sanchez was born on March 12, 1978 in Suffern , New York State , and has Puerto Rican and Italian roots.

He has been married to Chondra Echert Sanchez since October 23, 2009 and has one son, Atlas Hendrix. Both had met in 2003 in Jacksonville at a concert.

Sanchez lives with his family in an apartment in Brooklyn , a borough in the metropolis of New York City, and also owns a house in Nyack . Another house in the country that was owned by Sanchez was secretly used as a greenhouse for marijuana by their lodgers , so that the police assumed for a long time that Sanchez himself was involved in the scheme.

Career

Sanchez's musical interest was sparked, among other things, by the songs Englishman in New York by Sting and All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix .

He is a founding member of the band Shabütie in 1995, which was renamed Coheed and Cambria in the early 2000s . Initially rooted in post-hardcore and inspired by At the Drive-In , the music changed over the years to the now known mix of progressive rock , indie rock and metal . The group signed their first recording deal with Equal Vision Records , which released the band's first two works. Due to the success of the first two albums, the major label Columbia Records became aware of the band and signed them in 2005. The label released the band's next three studio albums. After three more albums released by various indie labels, the group signed a contract with Roadrunner Records in spring 2018, on which the musicians' ninth album was released.

In addition to Coheed and Cambria, Sanchez is the founder of the musical side project The Prize Fighter Inferno , which he launched in 2006 and tells the prehistory of the Coheed saga.

In addition to his musical activities, Sanchez is also active as a comic book author . His first comic called The Bag Line Adventures was published in 2005. This was followed by Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, his second work, which takes up the musical history of Coheed and Cambria and continues to tell. With the comic series The Armory Wars , in which Peter David also participated at times , Sanchez was able to firmly establish himself in the comic scene. In 2009 his Kill Audio series started, which, like Key of Z , is created in collaboration with his wife Chondra Echert Sanchez.
