The Salmon River (English for "Salmon River") is a left tributary of the Gander River on the island of Newfoundland, which belongs to the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador .

River course

The Salmon River has its origin in a nameless lake 13 km west of Glenwood . It flows 6 km to the east and then turns to the northeast. The Trans-Canada Highway ( Route 1 ) crosses the river. The Salmon River flows through the lake Salmon Pond and flows for its last 3 kilometers to the east, north past Glenwood, and flows into the Gander River, about 2 km below its outflow from the Gander Lake .

Hydrology

At the gauge at the bridge of the Trans-Canada Highway, 6 km above the mouth, the mean discharge is 2.5 m³ / s. In the months of April and May the river carries the largest amount of water with an average of 6.94 and 4.04 m³ / s.
