Sleepwave is an alternative rock band from St. Petersburg , Florida, founded in 2013 by former Underoath singer Spencer Chamberlain . When performing live, the duo is accompanied by live musicians.

history

In 2012, Underoath announced it would split up in 2013 after a farewell tour. Chamberlain announced a new project called Sleepwave back in 2012. Chamberlain is assisted by Stephen Bowman.

On June 23, 2014, the duo signed a record deal with Epitaph Records . On August 6, 2014, Through the Looking Glass, the band's first song was released. The debut album Broken Compass was released on September 16, 2014 . This rose to number 194 in the US album charts .

Sleepwave's first concert tour was with Tonight Alive as the opening act for The Used and Taking Back Sunday . This took place between March 14, 2014 and April 27, 2014. The duo completed their second tour with Nothing More between August and September 2014.

style

The music of Sleepwave is compared with Nine Inch Nails and Foo Fighters . Compared to Underoath , Spencer Chamberlain's predecessor band , Sleepwave's music is more radio-friendly, even if it is reminiscent of later Thrice works. The music is described as a mixture of ambient and post-rock , which combines electronic sounds with hard guitar riffs, clear and screaming vocal parts.

Compared to Underoath, Sleepwave is not a music project with a Christian touch. The lyrics are about personally experienced situations and experiences of the singer.
