Michael Maximilian Lake (born February 26, 1987 in Bocholt ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career
Lake started his career in his hometown of Bocholt . After numerous successes at West German championships, he was initially appointed to the North Rhine-Westphalia national team in 2001 and was nominated for the Halle youth team a year later. This year Lake made his debut in the jersey of TuB Bocholt in the 2nd Bundesliga North . In 2004 he switched to the volleyball boarding school in Frankfurt and played in the A-youth for Moerser SC . He also took part in the Junior European Championship in Riga in 2005 , where he reached tenth place together with the German national team. In the following year he first moved to VC Olympia Berlin and later to the A-youth of TV Hörde . In addition, he was appointed captain of the junior national team in 2006 and took part with this at the European Championships in Kazan , where he finished ninth. He was also appointed to the squad of the U23 national beach volleyball team. In 2007 Lake was German A-Youth Champion with the TV Hörde . For the coming season he then decided to play for TV Rottenburg , with which he was champion in 2008 and runner-up in 2010 in the 2nd Bundesliga South . Finally, the team qualified for the second half of the season for the 1st Bundesliga . After a few injuries, he moved to TSV Georgii Allianz Stuttgart in the 2nd Bundesliga South in 2011 . A year later Lake returned to his hometown club TuB Bocholt and went down in volleyball history in 2013 as the first champion of the Third League West . In the 2013/14 season, he finished tenth in the 2nd Bundesliga North . Lake has been playing at TuS Mondorf in the Regionalliga West since 2016 and achieved the championship title and promotion to the 3rd division in the 2016/17 season.
Private
Michael Maximilian Lake is single and has no children. From 2008 to 2010 he completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at Walter Knoll .
