Andrew Dennis Biersack "Andy Black" (born December 26, 1990 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American singer and founder of the band Black Veil Brides . In 2016 he released a solo album under the name Andy Black .

Life

Andrew Dennis Biersack is the son of Chris and Amy Biersack. His father played guitar in the punk band "The Edge". After dropping out of high school , Biersack moved to Los Angeles, California, to get into acting. He has appeared in commercials and starred in his cousin's (Joe Flanders) web series "Average Joe". Biersack later appeared in the movie " Legion of the Black " (2013). He also played the role of Johnny Faust in the movie "American Satan" in 2017 .

At the age of 14, Biersack formed his first band. When he was 16 years old, he finally formed his current band, Black Veil Brides. In September 2009 the band was signed to the indie label StandBy Records . In December 2009 they went on their first US tour called "On Leather Wings".

The band's debut album We Stitch These Wounds was released in 2010 and sold over 10,000 copies in the first week and rose to number 36 in the Billboard Top 200 and number 1 in the Billboard Independent Charts. The second studio album, Set The World On Fire was released in 2011.

In addition to his work as a singer with Black Veil Brides, Biersack is working on his solo career, which he is promoting under the pseudonym Andy Black. His debut album The Shadow Side was released on May 6, 2016 via Universal Music .

On April 16, 2016 Andy married his girlfriend, the singer Juliet Simms.

Trivia

He dedicated the song The Morticians Daughter from 2010 to the father of the actress Scout Taylor-Compton , with whom he was dating at the time.

Biersack injured himself on June 18, 2011 in Hollywood when he fell from a four meter high column. As he tried to jump back onto the stage, he fell forward and hit the edge of the stage with his chest. This resulted in three broken ribs and one displaced rib. Despite the serious injury, Biersack went back on stage and ended the show. Due to this injury, Black Veil Brides did not participate in the first week of the 2011 Vans Warped Tour .
