The Ataris are a rock band from the USA .
history
After they were founded in late 1994, they were offered a recording contract on January 15, 1996 by Kung Fu Records . In the fall of the same year, they also released their debut album Anywhere but Here . Many of the lyrics on the album are about love or broken relationships. On June 24, 2002, after the fifth album End Is Forever , The Ataris switched to Columbia Records . In 2002, the collaboration resulted in the LP So Long, Astoria , released on March 4, 2003 , from which several successful singles, including a cover version of The Boys of Summer , were extracted.

After many member changes in recent years (only songwriter Kris Roe is still there from the start), Welcome the Night , a rather dark album, was announced for 2006 . Its release was delayed, however, because the Ataris ended their collaboration with Columbia Records in June 2006. In the meantime, the Ataris have founded their own label Isola Recordings , where Welcome the Night was released on March 9, 2007.
Trivia

- The album End Is Forever was produced by Joey Cape (member of the bands Lagwagon , Bad Astronaut and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes ), who also featured in the song Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a , start (an old video game cheat code from Konami ) sings along.
- The title of San Dimas High School Football Rules! is a tribute to the film Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure finished a presentation with just these words, in the Ox Robbins. Otherwise, however, the music title has no relation to the film.
