Street Dogs are a punk - band from the US city of Boston .

history

After Mike McColgan left the folk-punk band Dropkick Murphys in 1998 , four years later he founded the band "Street Dogs" with a bassist, a guitarist and a drummer. Jeff Erna, the first drummer of the Dropkick Murphys, played in the original line-up from 2002.

Their debut Savin Hill was released in 2003 via CMH / Crosscheck Records , with a mixture of punk, folk or reggae, which is also reflected in all other releases of the band. Two years later, the album Back to the World followed , which was released on Brass Tacks Records , whose owners are the band members. On this album, Marcus Hollar is represented on guitar instead of Rob Guidotti. Also played on this album was Joe Sirois, the former drummer of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, instead of Jeff Erna. Only a year later, after the engagement of the young guitarist Tobe Bean III, the album Fading American Dream was released. Then drummer Joe Sirois switched back to his original band, and Paul Rucker got on drums. In 2008 the album State of Grace was released via Hellcat Records . It contains more traditional Irish influences than the previous albums , which were even more focused on street punk. After all, the most versatile album Street Dogs was released on Hellcat Records in 2010 . This album can be seen as a compilation of all musical and content-related topics of the Street Dogs.

The band announced their breakup in 2020.

style

The lyrics are not as clearly oriented towards the working class as the lyrics of the Dropkick Murphys, they are mostly about friendship and solidarity.
