Bad Cop / Bad Cop is an American band from southern California . She is currently signed to Fat Wreck Chords .

Band history

Bassist Jen Carlsson founded the band in January 2011 together with her long-time bandmate Stacey Dee (vocals / guitar) as well as Myra Gallerza (drums) and Jennie Cotterill (vocals / guitar). The band name is a reference to the idiom " Good Cop, Bad Cop ". The band began touring locally and expanded to the west coast of the United States. The first Get Rad demo was released in 2012 . Then the band got to know producer Davey Warsop , who took care of the production of their songs from then on. It was followed by a self-titled 7 ''. Carlsson left the band shortly after the recordings, but introduced the group to their successor Linh Lhe.

Fat Mike came to one of their gigs and asked about new songs. He then brought out the single Boss Lady and signed the group on his label Fat Wreck Chords. Their debut album Not Sorry was released on June 16, 2015 . The band was allowed to play on the subsequent 25th anniversary tour of Fat Wreck. But about halfway through the tour there were problems with Stacey Dee, whose drug addiction in connection with the party life on tour meant that the band had to cancel the tour. Fat Mike helped Stacey Dee with her withdrawal and the band said they grew closer together.

Then began the recordings for the second album Warriors , in which Fat Mike was involved as a producer together with Warsop, as well as contributed some lyrics. The album was finally released on June 16, 2017, exactly two years after their debut album. The band then took part in the Vans Warped Tour .

Music genre

Bad Cop / Bad Cop play melodic punk rock with two, since Warriors, on which bassist Linh Le sings two songs, even three singers. While the first album was much softer in terms of music and lyrics, Warriors' second work was created under the influence of Stacey Dee's withdrawal and the 2016 presidential election in the United States , in which Donald Trump was elected. The lyrics became much more political. The band represents a strong feminism and an anti-capitalist attitude.
