Contrary to popular belief, Texas is not dry everywhere. The eastern and northeastern parts of Texas are actually quite green and humid, and the area around Dallas is characterized by many rivers and lakes and a green landscape for most of the year.
The Denton area is home to extensive lakes: Lake Grapevine, Lake Lewisville, and Lake Ray Roberts. Also within Denton County is the Texas Motor Speedway , where NASCAR races are regularly held.
Popular excursion destinations are of course the inner cities of Dallas and Fort Worth , although the latter has partly retained its western character. The historic Fort Worth Stockyards are home to numerous saloons, steak houses, and rodeos are held regularly .
climate
The climate is warm all year round, from November to February it only gets cold for a short time. In summer, however, temperatures around 40 ° C are not uncommon, although it can also be quite humid. Heavy rain is not uncommon, especially in September and October.
traffic
Denton is crossed by Interstate 35 , which splits in Denton from the north into I 35 East (to Dallas Downtown) and I 35 West (to Fort Worth). Denton has a local airport and is connected to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) via I 35 East (approximately 15 miles south of Denton).
