The Summer Set is a pop rock / power pop band from Scottsdale , Arizona, founded in 2007 .
The group consists of vocalist Brian Dales, guitarist / pianist / backing vocalist John Gomez, bassist Stephen Gomez, second guitarist Josh Montgomery and drummer Jess Bowen.
The Summer Set is currently under contract with Fearless Records and has released four EPs and three studio albums to date. Before the band landed at Fearless, the group was signed to Razor & Tie and The Militia Group .
The Summer Set has toured North America , Australia and Europe several times . The band played several times on the Warped Tour , the Bamboozle Left and the Soundwave Festival . On their concert tours, the band played with All Time Low , Hands Like Houses and Sleeping with Sirens, among others .
history
2007–2008: First publications
The Summer Set was founded in 2007 by singer Brian Dales, guitarist Dillon Morris, second guitarist John Gomez (also piano and backing vocals), bassist Stephen Gomez and drummer Jess Bowen in Scottsdale , Arizona . Bowen and the two Gomez brothers previously played with Kennedy Brock in a band called Last Call for Camden, which released an album called Keep Your Feet on the Ground before they split up . Brock would later found the rock band The Maine .
In November of the year it was founded, the group released their debut EP Love the Love You Have , which was financed out of their own pocket. In April 2008, The Summer Set signed their first recording deal with The Militia Group . In the meantime, Dillon Morris has been replaced by Josh Montgomery on guitar. On June 24th, 2008 the band released their second EP ... In Color as download from iTunes and other websites. In December of the same year, the third EP was released under the title Meet Me On the Left Coast .
2009–2013: move to Razor & Tie
The group switched labels and signed with Razor & Tie . On October 13, 2009, the debut album Love Like This was released by the record company . The band covered the piece I Wanna Rock and Roll All Nite by KISS , which can be heard on the Punk Goes Classic Rock compilation. The compilation was released by Fearless Records . On July 6, 2010, the debut album was re-released as Love Like Swift with five Taylor Swift cover pieces.
The band spent the summer of 2010 on the entire Warped Tour , which led through the United States and Canada . The Summer Set then toured together with Yellowcard and Hey Monday as a supporting act for All Time Low on their Dirty Work tour. The play Chelsea was heard on April 5, 2011 on the show Dancing with the Stars . Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas danced to this song on the show. In a behind-the-scenes video, Kane said that singer Brian Dales wrote this song for her because the two were in a relationship at the time.
On July 19, 2011, the band released their second album Everything's Fine through Razor & Tie. The producer was John Fields , who also worked with Andrew WK . Paul Doucette and Mike Daly helped the musicians to write the songs. In November 2011 the fourth EP What Money Can't Buy was released , which in turn was financed out of pocket.
Since 2013: Fearless Records
In 2013, the group changed record labels again and signed a record deal with Fearless Records . On April 16, 2013, Legendary released the label debut and the group's third studio album. The Summer Set played the full length of the Warped Tour again . The group then toured on selected concerts with The Getaway plan and Hands Like Houses as opening act for Sleeping with Sirens by Europe . For 2014 the band was confirmed again for the full Warped Tour.
On January 21, 2016 a new single was released with Figure Me Out . In addition, Stories for Monday, the band's fourth studio album, was announced for April 1, 2016.
