The Maine is an American rock band from Tempe , Arizona, founded in 2007 .

When the band was founded in January 2007, some of the band members went to the same high school in Phoenix, Arizona. Drummer Pat Kirch and bassist Garrett Nickelsen wanted to finally found their own band after numerous changing garage bands, which corresponded to their ideas. On the same interests they met singer John O'Callaghan and second voice and guitarist Kennedy Brock. In spring 2007 they recorded their first self-produced EP called Stay Up, Get Down , which was released the following summer 2007.

Due to their enormous online presence on platforms like Myspace and Buzznet, a major label quickly became aware of them. At their first concert, the band played in front of over 600 fans, including an agent from the music label Fearless Records . Together with their new second guitarist Jared Monaco, they signed the record deal at the end of October 2007.

On December 11, 2007, their second EP The Way We Talk was released under Fearless Records. It debuted at number 10 on the US Billboard Top Independent Album Charts . In 2008 they toured the USA extensively. They have played on the Warped Tour and the Soundtrack Of Your Summer Tour; in the latter together with Good Charlotte , Boys Like Girls and Metro Station .

Their first LP called Can't Stop, Won't Stop was released on July 8th, 2008 and was produced by Matt Squire. With 12,000 copies sold in the first week, the album debuted at number 4 on the US Billboard Top Independent Album Charts and at number 40 on the Billboard Top 200.

In December 2008 her Christmas EP "... And a Happy New Year" was released, which also featured a cover for Wham! - Contained songs "Last Christmas". In addition, the deluxe edition of the first studio LP "Can't Stop, Won't Stop" was released in July 2009, including the band's own documentation entitled "In Person".

In July 2010, after the early release of the singles "Inside Of You" and "Growing Up", their second studio album "Black & White" was released, which is stylistically quite different from the previous editions. So they combined vintage rock with modern independent influences and thus distanced themselves from pure commercial pop punk.

The second studio album is called Pioneer and was released on December 6, 2011, followed in 2013 by the album Forever Halloween , which placed 39th on the Billboard 200 charts.

In the summer of 2014 it was announced that The Maine were working on a new album. The first single from the American Candy album , English Girls , was released on February 10, 2015. The album itself was released on March 31, 2015. The band toured the United States in March and April 2016 with Mayday Parade . It has also been confirmed that The Maine will play on the 2016 Warped Tour.

Their sixth studio album "Lovely Little Lonely" was released on April 7, 2017, with which they toured both the USA and Europe in the same year. On March 29, 2019, the release of their album "You Are Ok" followed, with which they also went on tour.
