Boys Like Girls is an American rock band from Boston , Massachusetts .
Band history
The band first gained fame on the Internet, where they released their first demos and created a fan base. Eventually she became aware of producer Matt Squire and her real music career began.
They first started touring in 2006 and then finished their debut album. The album, which is titled with the band name, was released in August by Red Ink / Columbia and went unnoticed for a long time. It wasn't until months after the release of the song The Great Escape that the breakthrough came. The single made it to number 23 in the official charts and sold over a million copies. As a result, album sales increased and although it did not go beyond number 55 in the LP charts, the debut album stayed in the chart ranks for over a year and reached gold status . Two other single releases were also awarded gold.
On March 17, 2007, it was announced that the band had been named Artist of the Year 2006 by readers of Spin magazine .
It took some time until the follow-up album was completed and Love Drunk was not released until mid-2009 . In return, it went straight to number 1 on the rock album charts and also reached number 8 on the Billboard 200. The title song was also very successful and was already her fourth title, which was sold at least half a million times. The album also includes a collaboration with Taylor Swift , the most successful artist of 2009 in the US, which was selected as the second release.
In 2011 the band split from bassist Bryan Donahue.
