The Story So Far is a pop-punk / punk-rock band from Walnut Creek , California , United States formed in 2007 .

The group is signed to Pure Noise Records and has released three albums so far: Under Soil and Dirt (2011), What You Don't See (2013) and The Story So Far . Their second album entered the official US charts at number 46 , and the third album named after the band even made it into the international music charts. There are also several EPs and split releases with Maker , Morgan Foster and Stick to Your Guns .

The group toured for the first time in 2013 on the complete Warped Tour , the Slam Dunk Festival and completed a concert tour through Australia , as well as two European tours.

history

Foundation and first publications

The group was founded in 2007 in Walnut Creek, California by Parker Cannon ( vocals ), Kevin Geyer ( electric guitar , background vocals ), Kevin Ambrose (electric guitar), Kelen Capener ( electric bass ) and Ryan Torf ( drums ). In the first two years the group released five songs (2007) and 2008 EP (2008) with two EPs of their own. In 2010 the third EP, While You Were Sleeping , followed, which was released via Pure Noise Records . The group signed a record deal with the label in March 2010. There was also a split EP with Maker . In the same year, Kevin Ambrose was replaced by William Levy on the electric guitar. At the group's first concerts, the musicians were supported as session musicians by Cameron Macbain (drums), Morgan Foster (electric bass) and Ryan Justice (drums).

First albums: Under Soil and Dirt and What You Don't See

2011 began for the group with the release of a split release with Morgan Foster . In June 2011, the band's debut album, Under Soil and Dirt, was released via Pure Noise Records . A publication in Japan followed a few weeks later, in early July.

The group's first notable tour took place between November 4th and 9th, 2012. This took place in several cities in Europe as part of the Road to Warped Tour and ended one day later in the United Kingdom on the Warped Tour . On the Road to Warped Tour , the group played with New Found Glory , Less Than Jake and Man Overboard . On the British edition of the Warped Tour , the group could be seen on the Monster Energy West Stage with Awolnation , Lostprophets , Breathe Carolina , The Used and 3OH! 3 .

From the end of November to mid-December 2013, the Sticks and Stones Tour followed, which led through the United States . The Story So Far supported Seahaven and Candy Hearts as the opening act for New Found Glory . 2013 started for the group with a tour of Australia . The band was accompanied by Anchors . On March 26, 2013, the group released their second studio album called What You Don't See . This album was also released on Pure Noise Records . For the first time, the group managed to enter the official US charts , where the album was able to place at number 46.

The album was released during the Suppy Nation Tour , which took place between March 8, 2013 and April 13, 2013. This North American concert tour was accompanied by Tonight Alive , Man Overboard , Citizen and The American Scene . Between May 25 and 27, 2013 the group played at the Slam Dunk Festival in the UK. There the group performed on the Macbeth Stage with The Early November , Four Year Strong and The Wonder Years, among others . Between June 15, 2013 and August 4, 2013, the group played the full Warped Tour in the United States and Canada for the first time . The Story So Far played on Tilly's Stage with Forever the Sickest Kids , Hawthorne Heights , Story of the Year and The Summer Set . In September 2013, a split release with Stick to Your Guns was released.

In January and February 2014, the group played their first extensive concert tour in Europe as the opening act for Every Time I Die and A Day to Remember, with stops in the Netherlands and Switzerland , the United Kingdom , Belgium , Italy and Austria . In Berlin the concert was moved from the C-Halle to the somewhat smaller Huxleys at short notice. On February 12, 2014 it was announced that The Story So Far had been booked again for the Warped Tour.

The American music magazine Alternative Press included The Story So Far in its list of 100 bands you should know in 2013 .

Acoustic EP: Songs Of and third studio album: The Story So Far

In early 2014, the group announced the release of an acoustic EP through Pure Noise Records . This is called Songs Of and is scheduled for June 17, 2014. The first single is called Navy Blue and was officially released on May 15, 2014.

After completing a European tour as the opener for A Day to Remember and Every Time I Die in early 2014 and taking part in the entire Warped Tour in summer, a US tour with The Wonder Years and Modern Baseball followed in October . In November, the band participated in the Pop Punk's Not Dead Tour with New Found Glory in the UK part.

In January 2015 the group announced that the group is in the studio to record their third album. The work was finished on February 26th. After the group pre-released several songs from the new album as singles, the album was officially released on May 19, 2015 via Pure Noise Records. The third studio album named after the band made it to the charts outside the United States for the first time, namely in the United Kingdom.

On May 1, 2015, a headlining tour through the United States began, which was accompanied by Terror and Four Year Strong . The tour ended on June 13, 2015.

Controversy

On March 24, 2015, the musicians of a band of the same name from Chicago published a statement in which they accused the band of disregarding naming rights in the band name. According to the entry of the band founded in 1998 with members of the group 88 Fingers Louie , the band had the name The Story So Far trademarked. So far, the band's musicians have not commented on the allegations.
