88 Fingers Louie is an American hardcore punk band from Chicago that was formed in the spring of 1993.
history
In 1993, when they were founded, 88 Fingers Louie released their first single Wanted in their own production with the line-up Dan Wlekinski (guitar / bandleader), Dennis Buckley (vocals) and Dom Vallone (drums). This was followed by a number of releases on samplers, before hiring Fat Wreck Chords in 1994 . They released their first album Behind Bars in 1995 on Hopeless Records . A tour of North America and Europe followed in 1996.
During their tour, however, the band fell out and broke up, which did not prevent Fat Wreck Chords from releasing the album The Dom Years in February 1997 . Also during their separation, Hopeless Records re-released all old songs and brought out a compilation of unreleased songs with Up Your Ass in April 1997.
A year and a half later, Dennis Buckley and Dan Wlekinski decided to resume their 88 Fingers Louie project and brought Joe Principe (bass) and Glenn Porter (drums), who was later replaced by John Carrol, on board . This was followed by the album Back on the Streets in 1998. Then came a few releases together with Kid Dynamite before they separated again. Dan and Joe later co-founded the hardcore band Rise Against , also from Chicago. However, Dan (who appeared on Rise Against under the name Mr. Precision) left the band in 2001. Since then he has played with Break the Silence.
On August 15, 2009 they played a reunion show in Chicago in the sold out Bottom Lounge, which was released a little later as a live CD under the name Lives , and have since been back under the following line-up:
- Mr. Precision - guitar, backing vocals
- Denis Buckley - lead vocals
- John Carroll - drums, backing vocals
- John Contreras - bass, backing vocals
