Modern Baseball is an American pop punk band from Philadelphia , Pennsylvania, founded in 2011 .
history
The founders Brendan Lukens and Jake Ewald played music as a duo while they were in high school in Brunswick , Maryland . After they both moved to Philadelphia , Pennsylvania to study, they formed the band Modern Baseball. They chose the name from the book Modern Baseball Techniques , which Ewald's father owned.
Modern baseball played his first concerts in living rooms near Drexel University in Philadelphia. They also played together with the then unknown group The Menzingers . The debut album, Sports , which was recorded in the recording studio at Drexel University, was released in 2012 on the independent record company Run for Cover Records . During the recording of their debut album, Sean Huber and Ian Farmer were joined by a drummer and a bassist . You're Gonna Miss It All , the band's second album, which followed two years later, entered the US charts at number 97 . The third album Holy Ghost , which was released in 2016, also made it into the album charts.
In 2014 and 2015 , the band received three nominations at the Alternative Press Music Awards . In October 2017, the band announced that they would no longer play shows for an indefinite period of time.

Modern baseball's music can be described as pop-punk , with influences from emo , indie rock , power pop and even folk punk being audible.
