Falling in Reverse is an American post-hardcore & metalcore band that was formed in 2008 in Henderson , Nevada . After numerous changes in line-up, the band includes singer Ronnie Radke , drummer Brandon Richter, guitarists Max Georgiev, Derek Jones and Zakk Sandler, and bassist Tyler Burgess.

history

Beginnings (2008-2010)

The band was founded in 2008 while Ronnie Radke was in prison because of his involvement in an argument that ended fatally, as one of Radke's companions killed one of the opponents with three shots and injured another. Radke was sentenced to 5 years probation, but violated his probation conditions, his sentence was changed to two and a half years imprisonment. At the time of the judgment in July 2008, Ronnie Radke was the singer of the band Escape the Fate , whose members then kicked him out of the band and replaced him with the Blessthefall singer Craig Mabbitt . In prison, Radke founded the band From Behind These Walls , which later had to rename itself due to a copyright problem and thus became Falling in Reverse . Radke was released on December 12, 2010 after two and a half years in prison.

The Drug in Me Is You (2010-2013)

In December 2010 the band started to record their first album. During the recording work, she announced on the social network Facebook that the producer of the Blessthefall album Witness and the record Dying Is Your Latest Fashion by Ronnie Radke himself, Michael "Elvis" Baskette , would produce the album for the band. It was later announced that she had signed a contract with Epitaph Records and that record company would release the album.

After the work on the album was completed on April 2, 2011, the band announced the name and title of the songs on it a little later. The release date of the album called The Drug in Me Is You was dated July 26th 2011 in the USA and fans could pre-order it from June 7th. In Europe and Japan the album was released the day before.

In its first week of sales, The Drug in Me Is You sold a total of 18,000 times in the United States. It also ranked 19th on the Billboard 200 .

Fashionably Late (2013-2015)

On May 7, 2013, Falling released the music video for their new single Alone in Reverse . The style of the song differs from the previous style of the band, as it picks up on electro and hip-hop elements. These hip-hop and rap elements have been criticized by some fans. The second studio album, Fashionably Late , was released in Germany on June 14th and, like its predecessor, via Epitaph Records.

Just Like You (2015)

On February 24, 2015, Falling released their third studio album Just Like You in Reverse , for which the singles God, If You Are Above and The Guillotine IV - Final Chapter had already been released . The album was released in Germany on February 20, 2015 via Epitaph Records.

Coming Home (2017)

On April 7th, the new album called Coming Home was released . Two songs from the new album have already been released: Coming Home in December and Loser in January. As with the previous albums, Epitaph Records is the record company.

Losing My Life (2018)

On February 22nd, the single Losing My Life was released.

Band members

Despite the fact that the band was only around seven years old, it already has nine former members, most of whom were only part of the group for about a year. The first members of the band included Nason Schoeffler, who was part of the band from 2008 to 2011, as well as Anthony Avila, Nick Rich and Gilbert Catalano (all from 2008 to 2009).

In a very similar way, Avila and Rich first left the band in 2009. Both failed to take part in the band rehearsals several times and thus stayed away more and more often. In the early days of the band, both were kicked out of the band, creating space for Jacky Vincent and Oscar García. However, the latter left the band a year later for unknown reasons and so the drummer Ryan Seaman joined the group.

In 2009 Gilbert Catalano also left the band because they found that he could not play the guitar well enough and therefore could not meet the demands of the group.

Nason Schoeffler, who was one of the founding members of the band on the electric bass and the synthesizer , left the band on April 22, 2011, on the grounds that he had worked a lot on a solo project lately and wanted to take more time for it ( "I'm no longer in FIR, I have been working on a side project for some time"). In the same year, the band ended their collaboration with Scott Gee, who had only joined the group in 2010. A little later, Gee joined the Burbank (Los Angeles County) band LoveHateHero .

It is now known that Nason Schoeffler's solo project is called "MeMyselfAlive" and that he works together with Nick Rich.

In January 2012 Mika Horiuchi left the band and was replaced by Ronnie Ficarro. This was replaced in 2014 by Max Green, who left the band in the same year.

On October 31, 2015, Jacky Vincent announced his departure from the band.

In 2017 drummer Ryan Seaman left the band. Founding member and guitarist Derek Jones died in mid-April 2020 at the age of 35.

style

The band's style is a mixture of the basic post-hardcore elements and pop-punk and metalcore influences. In many of the songs on the debut album you can find pop-like refrains as well as screaming elements. Radke himself "adopted" this mixture from his former band Escape the Fate and thus shaped the style of Falling in Reverse . Radke himself commented on this style in May 2011 with “in the same songs it sounds like Norma Jean or Underoath with Katy Perry choruses” (free German translation: “Our songs often sound like Norma Jean or Underoath , while the chorus is strongly like Katy Perry sounds ”).

Most of the band's lyrics are written by Ronnie Radke himself. He often incorporates personal experiences such as his childhood, corruption in Las Vegas and his time in prison into these.
