Ronald Joseph Radke (born December 15, 1983 in Las Vegas , Nevada , United States ), known as Ronnie Radke , is an American rock musician and songwriter . He is the founder of Falling in Reverse and its singer. Before founding Falling in Reverse, Radke was active as a singer in Escape the Fate , where he was also one of the founding musicians.

Life

Radke grew up with his older brother and father in rather poor circumstances with their grandmother. Radke's mother had left the family. He learned to play guitar and piano in his first band . The first pieces were from Blink-182 . In high school, he formed several bands. Together with Robert Ortiz and Max Green he founded the group Escape the Fate in 2004 , where he was the lead singer until 2008. He was sentenced to four years suspended prison sentence for incitement to murder. He had to leave Escape the Fate because of his arrest for a parole violation.

While still in prison, he founded the Falling in Reverse group in 2008 . It was originally called From Behind These Walls and changed its name to its original name due to a copyright issue. After Radke's release from prison in December 2010, they recorded their debut album The Drug in Me is You and released it in July 2011 through Epitaph Records .

Career

2004-2008: Escape the Fate

Together with his friend Max Green, whom he met at a talent show, and Bryan Money, Radke founded the band Escape the Fate in 2004. Omar Espinoza (formerly with LoveHateHero ) a drummer and Carson Allen a keyboardist joined the group. The group recorded their Escape the Fate EP demo and was signed to Epitaph Records in early 2006 .

The EP There's No Sympathy for the Dead and the debut album Dying is Your Latest Fashion were recorded and published under Epitaph . Both records were produced by Michael Baskette , a friend of Radke's.

In 2006 Radke and his friend Chase Rader got involved in a shootout in which the then 18-year-old Michael Cook was killed. Radke's friend Rader committed suicide shortly after the crime. Ronnie Radke was sentenced to four years suspended prison sentence and $ 100,000 in compensation for inciting murder. Shortly after the scandal became known, Radke was kicked out of the band and replaced by former Blessthefall singer Craig Mabbitt . The group also stated that Radke's problems with narcotics and various stays in rehab clinics had also led to the expulsion.

He failed to report to the police in June 2008, and the remainder of the suspended sentence was commuted to prison. Due to his imprisonment, the group was unable to tour outside the USA for a certain period of time, as Radke had, among other things, taken care of the international promotion. In addition, the announced single Webs We Weave was never released.

Radke was released from prison on December 12, 2010.

2008–2012: Falling in Reverse

Radke was planning to found a new band back in 2006. After he was replaced by Craig Mabbitt in Escape the Fate in 2008 , he founded the group From Behind These Walls in prison in December of the same year , which was later renamed Falling in Reverse. After he was released in December 2010, he began working with the group on several demos.

Falling in Reverse were signed by Epitaph Records and began work on their debut album The Drug in Me is You in December , which was released worldwide in July 2011. In October 2011, the group had to cancel a tour with Black Veil Brides because their singer, Andy Biersack , was injured in an accident. However, another concert tour was announced for December of the same year.

On October 31, 2011, Radke was arrested again. During a concert at Six Flags Great Adventure , towards the end of his band's set, he threw three microphone stands into the crowd, injuring a 16-year-old girl and a 24-year-old man. However, he was released from prison a few days later. After this incident, the concert hall canceled and banned all further metal concerts. In June 2012 Radke was awarded the Kerrang! Award nominated in the "Hero of the Year" category. However, this went to Rou Reynolds of Enter Shikari .

Watch Me (Mixtape)

At the end of 2013, Radke announced on the Falling In Reverse Facebook page that he would publish a mixtape in spring 2014, which contains 12 songs that can be assigned to rap. In addition, he published the single Destiny at the end of 2013 , which could be downloaded for free with an email signup. The singles Stupid Boy , Never The Same and Already Dead were released as further freetracks in 2014 . The mixtape should contain other songs with features like Andy Biersack, Danny Worsnop and Deuce.
