Johann Georg Carl Harrys , also: Johann Georg Karl Harrys , Jewish also Herz David , (born January 19, 1780 in Hanover ; † November 11, 1838 there ) was a German journalist and writer .

Georg Harrys was the son of the Hanoverian banker Salomon Michael David . Georg Harry's wife Marie Caroline Wilhelmine Keßler , daughter of the royal personal surgeon Keßler , gave birth to their son Georg Hippolyt Hermann Harry .

Career

After the early death of his parents, Georg Harrys grew up in Nantes, France .

During the so-called French period , Harrys returned to his hometown , converted to the Christian faith on March 21, 1805 and was baptized in the wooded Marienkirche . In 1806 he married in the Neustädter Hof- und Stadtkirche S. Johannis .

After the end of the French occupation, Harrys worked in Hanover until 1816 as a "military hospital inspector", but then switched to writing and journalism.

In 1830 Harrys accompanied the Italian violinist Niccolò Paganini on a concert tour from June 6th to July 1st through northern German cities, in addition to Hanover in particular to Hamburg and Bremen . In the same year he published his journal Paganini in his traveling car ... which later attracted the interest of music historians.

The following year, Georg Harrys founded the art and literary magazine Die Posaune , the first edition of which appeared on October 2, 1831. He wrote anecdotes , charades , epigrams and poems on current events , such as the inauguration of the Schützenhaus , the unveiling of the Waterloo Column and events in the Herrenhausen Gardens . He wrote an “imperial book” dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte , wrote a few comedies and conducted a lively correspondence .

From 1838 his son Hermann continued the magazine Die Posaune .
