H 2 O is an American hardcore band . Their style is often referred to as Melodic Hardcore . The band is from New York City and belongs to the New York hardcore scene.

history

Toby Morse, singer of the band, was a roadie with the hardcore band Sick of It All . If there was no opening act, he played a few songs with others before the group performed. Since the fans were enthusiastic about his singing, he was encouraged to form his own band. So together with the guitarist Rusty Pistachio in 1995 he was looking for more band members, who were found in the form of bassist Eric Thrice, drummer Todd Friend and Todd Morse, Toby's brother.

They went to recordings in the studio and in 1996 the self-titled debut album was released. Thrice left the band a short time later and was replaced by the British Adam Blake. Due to a positive impression of the debut album, the group was signed by Epitaph Records and in 1997, Thicker Than Water, the band's second work was released. This was followed by a tour of the USA with the Misfits , Pennywise and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones .

In 1999 the band's next album, FTTW, was released, recorded with Brett Gurewitz . After the record deal with Epitaph had expired, they switched to MCA . Go , H 2 O's fourth album , was released here in 2001. An 18-month tour followed, which was mainly contested as support for boxcar racers . Then it was decided to take a break and released the All We Want EP, which includes two pieces from a live concert in the New York club CBGB . In 2005 they went on tour again and temporarily worked on a new album, which was released in 2008 under the title Nothing to Prove . Meanwhile, the DVD One Life One Chance was released in 2005 . In 2015, the studio album Use Your Voice was released, which the band occasionally referred to as the band's last album on social media. At the same time, however, there is no concrete statement that H 2 O would dissolve. Todd Morse can not be heard on an album for the first time because he left the band.

Toby Morse is straight edge and advertises on his homepage and as a " keynote speaker", e.g. B. in schools, for this lifestyle.
