State Radio is a rock band formed by Chad Urmston in 2002 after Dispatch was broken up .

history

The band was previously called the Flag of the Shiners until they renamed themselves State Radio (this was the name of the song now called Democracy in Kind ). After three EPs and a demo CD, Us Against the Crown was released in October 2005. On April 17, 2007, they released another EP called The Barn Sessions . Almost all songs that are already known and published can be heard there. However, most of them are available in a different version, for example the song Camilo .

Camilo is about a US soldier who was sentenced to nine months in prison after his assignment in Iraq because he resisted further deployments and thus violated his contract with the military. There is a fan-made music video for the song on the State Radio homepage.

State Radios songs are mostly a mixture of roots reggae and rock. Singer and bandleader Chad Urmston is almost the only songwriter in the band, but the band members Chuck Fay and Mike Najarian are increasingly used because of their vocals. State Radio is also known for its live performances. Instead of perfecting new songs in order to then play them in front of an audience, they are played live and improved directly.

In September 2006 they traveled to England, the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany for the first time. In addition to concerts in London, Berlin, Amsterdam and Cologne, Stockholm, Munich, Frankfurt and Hamburg were also represented. In the summer of 2007 they played in Germany at the Southside Festival and the Hurricane Festival. In September 2007 they were on the road again in Germany and England. March 2008 they gave over 10 concerts in Germany and Austria.

On September 19, 2007 their second album Year of the Crow was released .

On November 3, 2008, Long View Farm Studios in North Brookfield, Massachusetts began recording their third studio album, Let It Go , which was released on September 29, 2009.

A tour through the USA entitled Lefty Rides Again is planned for the beginning of 2010 . State Radio will then give a total of 11 concerts in Europe between March 17th and April 1st.

On August 28th they also played at Rock am See in Konstanz and thus at the anniversary of Rock am See (25 years) as an opening act for Toten Hosen.
