We Are the In Crowd is a pop-punk band from Poughkeepsie , New York, founded in 2009 .

history

Founded in 2009 in Poughkeepsie , New York , the pop-punk band consists of singer Tay Jardine, lead guitarist Cameron Hurley, rhythm guitarist Jordan Eckes, bassist Mike Ferri and drummer Robert Chianelli.

In June 2010 the group released their EP Guaranteed to Disagree on their own. Towards the end of the year the group signed a recording deal with Hopeless Records . Through this record company, their debut album Best Intentions was released worldwide in 2011 . This rose to number 122 in the national album charts . The second studio album, Weird Kids , which was released three years later, also entered the US charts. There the album was placed in 29th place.

The group has toured internationally several times, performing with bands such as Breathe Carolina , All Time Low , Mayday Parade , A Rocket to the Moon , Young Guns , Set Your Goals and Yellowcard . We Are the In Crowd has toured numerous music festivals including Groezrock , Warped Tour , Soundwave Festival , Reading and Leeds Festivals , Extreme Thing and Slam Dunk Festival .

In 2011 the group was named Best International Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards nominated. The lead singer was nominated in the Hottest Female category in 2012 and 2013 . In 2012 she won this category.

On February 10, 2016, singer Taylor Jardine announced a break from the band to devote herself to another project. The new band consists of members from We Are the In Crowd with the exception of drummer Rob Chianelli and rhythm guitarist Jordan Eckes. In October 2016 the first single Technicolor by the new band Sainte was released.

style

According to Phil Mongredien of the Guardian, We Are the In Crowd play pop music that is falsely described as punk . The group's music is comparable to Paramore , says Julian from Pop Punks . Tay Jardine's singing is reminiscent of Hayley Williams , says Enno Kueker.
