Kerrang! Awards

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kerrang! Award is an annual award from the British music magazine Kerrang! to the most successful musicians and bands in the rock and metal genre.

history

The prizes have been awarded since 1993.

The event is always moderated by a well-known personality in the music business, for example Jodie Marsh presented Feeder with the “Best British Band” award in 2003 . Perhaps the most notorious event in recent years was the awards ceremony in 2000 when Slipknot set their table on fire after winning the "Best Band in the World" award. Lostprophets almost became the first music group to receive the "Best British Band" award three times in a row, but in 2008 they lost out to Bullet for My Valentine , who managed this hat trick by 2010. Many well-known international companies such as Island Records , Orange Music Electronic Company and Marshall Amplification act as sponsors for the various categories of the award.

criteria

It has been announced that the awards have not recently been given under the motto “The greatest is the best” because some of the winners and nominees for the newer awards such as “Best International Newcomer” were given to bands that received little public attention or had a solid reputation for live performances such as 2010 Best International Newcomer Winner, Trash Talk . There were also controversial winners of these awards. One example are the winners of the “Best British Newcomer” and “Best International Newcomer” awards at the 2006 awards ceremony ( Bring Me the Horizon and Aiden ). However, since 1993, the “Best British Band”, “Best International Band” and “Hall of Fame” awards have mostly been given to those artists who had particular chart successes at the time.
