Royal Blood is a British garage - and Blue Rock - Duo , the 2013 in Worthing , UK was established. In contrast to conventional rock bands , Royal Blood only consists of two members, bassist and singer Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher. By using multiple effects pedals , Kerr often emulates the sound of a distorted electric guitar , compensating for the lack of a guitarist.

history

Royal Blood was founded in Worthing in 2013 by friends Mike Kerr (vocals, bass) and Ben Thatcher (drums). The Arctic Monkeys -Schlagzeuger Matt Helder was with a T-shirt on which he supported the band during the Glastonbury Festival before Royal Blood had released their first single -Konzerts seen in July, 2013. On November 11, 2013, the duo released their debut single Out of the Black along with B-side Come On Over .

In November 2013 it was announced that Royal Blood would support the Arctic Monkeys at two shows in Finsbury Park in May 2014. In December 2013, Royal Blood were nominated for the BBC Sound of 2014 .

Royal Blood released the single Little Monster on February 11, 2014 . The band also released a four-track EP with the songs Out of the Black , Little Monster , Come On Over and Hole on March 11, 2014 in North America.

Royal Blood performed at South by Southwest in Austin in March and at Liverpool Sound City , Glastonbury Festival and Reading Festival in the following months . Their appearance on the opening day of the Open Air Gampel in August 2014 also generated a corresponding response.

The debut album Royal Blood was released in August 2014 . The song Out of the Black was also used as the theme song for the German movie Who Am I - No system is safe .

At the BRIT Awards in London in February 2015, the band received the award for best British band from Jimmy Page .
