Rise to Remain was a British metalcore / heavy metal band from London, founded in 2006 .

history

The group was founded in late 2006 in London by lead guitarist Ben Tovey and rhythm guitarist Will Homer under the name Halide . At the beginning of 2007, Austin Dickinson , Theo Tan, Audrey Jackson-Blake and Ali White were joined by a singer , a bassist , a keyboardist and a drummer . Under this band name, the debut EP Illusive Existence was released in the founding year, before the group should change its name to Rise to Remain in the following year .

In 2008, their second EP, Becoming One, was released . The musicians initially gave more and more local concerts as the opening act for groups like Exit Ten and The Red Shore from Australia, before the band completed a co-headlining tour with Holy Grail in the United Kingdom and supported scene greats such as Five Finger Death Punch , Trivium , Shadows Fall and The Haunted was featured. Rise to Remain also played at the major Sonisphere and Download music festivals .

During the recording of their EP Bridges Will Burn , the band was signed by Transcend Music. However, the EP was released for free by the British Metal Hammer , as the contract with the label was considered insufficient and they quickly left Transcend Music. In mid-2010, Rise to Remain won both a Metal Hammer Golden God Award and a Kerrang! Award as "Best Newcomer". At the end of 2010, the group opened Korn's concert tour through the UK, played a handful of concerts with Funeral for a Friend, and ended up on a European tour with Bullet for My Valentine . The group had to cancel a planned concert tour with Suicide Silence and As I Lay Dying in the UK due to participation in this European tour. In December 2010, Rise to Remain played a concert tour in the UK with Hatebreed .

Between July and November 2010, the musicians worked with producer Colin Richardson on their debut album City of Vultures , which was officially released on September 5, 2011 after being signed with EMI Records and entered the British album charts at number 83 . At the beginning of 2011 the group was in the support act of Iron Maiden in Singapore and Indonesia as well as part of the Soundwave Festival in Australia . During the summer, the group made several festival appearances , including at the Download Festival, Sonisphere, Hevy Festival and the Graspop Metal Meeting . The group was offered a concert tour of the United States to support Chimaira , but the band was dropped from the tour cast after they accepted an offer to play for Machine Head in the United States. With In Flames a European tour was played, which was accompanied by Ghost .

Rise to Remain (2012)

Rise to Remain covered the song Breed from the album Nevermind by Nirvana for a through the music magazine Kerrang! released cover album for the 20th anniversary of the album. In early January 2012, the band was to play another North American tour with Machine Head. However, this was canceled after Joe Copcutt and Pat Lundy left the group. While Lundy Lundy was joining Funeral for a Friend , Copcutt became part of the British-Canadian band AxeWound . After that, the group had to struggle with casting difficulties, so that Rise to Remain could only complete in the summer of 2012 as part of the Warped Tour .

In 2013, the group began work on their second album, which was no longer to be released. The musicians announced their breakup in January of the following year after the release of a single in early 2014. Austin Dickinson formed As Lions with Will Homer and Conor O'Keefe .

Rise to Remain was a metalcore band with musical roots in heavy metal , hard rock and hardcore punk . Austin Dickinson named groups like Killswitch Engage , Lamb of God , Slipknot , Pantera , Metallica , Deftones , As I Lay Dying , Parkway Drive and Unearth as musical influences . Dickinson also named Chino Moreno , Mike Patton and Jesse Leach as personal influences .
